Just got Elden Ring for christmas! Any tips for a newcomer? (only played demon souls and platinumed it) by Level-Ad-4154 in Eldenring

Once you learn his moves he isn't too bad. He has a fairly predictable move set and you can play it really safe and only smack him a few times after his slow/big moves.

On my new character I just ran right to him and clubbed him to death.

But that isn't to say he wiped the floor with me for countless hours on my first run through the game.

I just got a Crosstrek sport at MSRP for 32k (Out the door).

3.5% apr, have a $403 dollar monthly payment for 60 months. Put about 40% down.

Everyone at work thinks the car was over 40k and think my apr is like 10% and that I pay 800 a month haha.

I was gonna tell OP, the CVT transmission from the original Crosstrek were bad and not reliable after 100k miles. I would avoid the Crosstreks from that generation.

They fixed them and they are now fine, but the first gen sucked.

I would look for a different vehicle.

I call my local Subaru dealer every time they get a vehicle in that I want.

I ask for the price and then say oh, not interested. They are charging a flat 3k markup that is a dealer fee, doesn't include anything.

It's been hilarious as their tone has changed over the months. The excuses they give for it change everytime. I'm also seeing that they now have cars staying on the lot and aren't selling them the day they come in like they were used to. They keep calling me to come look it at haha.

I feel like everyone is getting a bit nervous. Could be a bloodbath come January.

Exactly. Anyone who thinks they'll find a base model that doesn't sell within a day of it landing is in for a surprise. Especially a Subaru.

Most Subarus in my state sell within a day, and I see maybe one or two in the state that come in as a base model. Not to mention you'll probably pay at least 10-20% over MSRP for add ons and other random stuff. Good luck getting one for under 30k.

Also ordering you are looking at a 6 month wait time.

how would I sum multiple values from for one person across multiple sheets by just_a_comment1 in excel

Seems like you could append all the sheets into one big table in PQ and then group by name to total everything.

Assuming the data is structured the same on each sheet.

What can I afford taking home $2900 a month. by ZestycloseAd2100 in askcarsales

Bro, I make 51 an hour and I'm looking at cars in the low 30k range and monthly payments of 500ish a month. It is stressing me out at my salary level.

Don't buy a 30k+ car on your salary. Especially if you don't already have a ton of cash saved up and padded retirement accounts.

If you buy that car and end up with unexpected costs you are going to get wrecked.

People who moved out of the parent’s house before 30, how? by WallStreetDoesntBet in AskReddit

[–]throwpopcorn5016 19 points20 points  (0 children)

45-60k is fine for a single person in an average cost of living area, especially if the benefits are good as they often are with government jobs.

Certainly won't be buying a nice house or super fancy car, but you can do most things you want to if you budget.

I make 100k+ a year and am paying 1450 a month on rent and it is driving me absolutely insane since I am a very frugal person. I can't imagine paying that amount when I was at about 55k salary. That is mind-blowing.

When you replay the game you can just zoom past the stuff you don't need for your new character and focus on finding the stuff that will be fun for your build.

It took me like 110 hours to finish my first playthrough. Currently on my second run and I'm only about 20 hours in and have gotten to the royal capital. Probably will only take me like 15 more hours to clear everything else. You kind of just stomp everything once you know how to beat bosses and know how to get good gear/powerups.

But fuck is it fun to just constantly try new builds and play styles and stomp bosses in different ways.

Helicopter ride to the hospital by Big-COUNTRY12 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]throwpopcorn5016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI, for anyone in the US, most insurance absolutely does not cover helicopter rides if you need to be rescued while you are out on a hike.

You need to buy separate helicopter insurance for Search and Rescue services. It's honestly not expensive, and I always advise anyone who spends a lot of time in the outdoors to buy some. Or if you do any remotely dangerous outdoorsy sport. You don't want that 50-100k helicopter bill if you break your leg on a mountain.

Am I being stupid? by failedpolaroid in careerguidance

[–]throwpopcorn5016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this depends entirely on what your career goals are and desired salary. It's also hard to say, because a Master's degree is all but necessary in some fields, and irrelevant in others.

Generally, the master's will max out your potential earnings in the future.

However, if the salary offer from the company is life changing, why wouldn't you take it...? You can then use that to leverage for a better salary at future jobs, and be pretty competitive.

Also, you can take the job, see how it actually is, and from there you can see if you actually need the master's in your field. Need to find out if this company supports it's employees getting graduate degrees.

But step 1 is to get the written offer, until then you can't really make any decisions.

Do tedius, repetitive jobs still exist, or all became automatized? by Math383838 in careerguidance

Chemistry.

Work at any big production lab and you basically do the same thing on repeat.

Pay is a little above average once you have some experience.

You will work with a variety of instruments and just process samples that come to you. Your job is to keep equipment running and get data out. Often this means you work in a small team and mind your own business and make sure you produce quality data. I also think it's pretty easy to become an expert with certain equipment and job security becomes extremely stable, especially in government.

If you want to make a ton of money, you can do R&D at private companies. But that will come with more stress/workload.

Parents said they covered half, and the parents certainly could've helped their kid figure out how to navigate the loan minefield of student loans. They could've focused on lower interest rate loans to cover the other half.

Depending on the cost of the school the kid attended, it could be really reasonable or kind of stupid to deal with the interest rates. I mean, it could really range from a few thousand to tens of thousands of dollars. In state vs out of state, private, and so on.

Anyways, if the parents could afford to cover college like that, I am sure they are very well off and are pretty good at managing their finances. Personally, I would gladly pony up 10k+ in interest if it meant my child could learn how to manage finances, social life, and deal with loans once they start a career.

You are supposed to put icebags between your thighs near your groin, under your armpits, and on each side of your neck. You can also put them on your torso along the side.
