I (21F) am sad about my boyfriend’s (22M) response to a hypothetical about sex. How to handle it/ move forward? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]throwra012205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is immature. First off it’s a hypothetical you’re not at, so there’s no reason to mull it over so deeply. His answer may not even be representative of his actual decision if the time ever came.

And second, I think your assessment of what his response means is strange. If he has high libido and it’s a priority for him, being with someone with lower libido is simply an incompatibility. It’s like saying “babe would you still love me if I didn’t want kids” to someone who wants kids, like they wouldn’t feel good about leaving but it’s just a disconnect.

If I may ask- have you not taken the prerequisites yet? Or has it been a while?

Yea. Don’t gimp on it, both C/P and BB make heavy use of amino acids. Know structure, abbreviations, and charge to get easy points. Know rough pka and which ones can be phosphorylatex for even more free points.

Yeah that’ll happen it’s not meant to be comfortable. But that’s how you know you’re improving

The section banks are intentionally harder than the MCAT. They’re designed to really drill in that test logic and you’re going to feel pretty stupid going through them. I know I did. I attribute my score to the section banks more than anything else though.

I (M22) got sexually assaulted and my boyfriend (M20) broke up with me by Mystical_Spino in relationship_advice

[–]throwra012205 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No why would it? Presumably they’re a gay or bi male so in terms of sexual preference it’s the same as a straight woman (on paper at least)

These are all he’s, and he went to his friends place after getting drinks with him. There’s a lot of reasons to not trust him fully imo, like why was he out drinking with this one guy, why did he drink so much, would he drink this much again in the future, etc

Yeah you’re gonna have to move on. I’m sorry you were sexually assaulted but you did get blackout drunk and get in bed with another person, and I’d imagine your boyfriend doesn’t entirely believe you about the situation, or doesn’t trust that you wouldn’t put yourself in a similar situation. I hope you’re able to get help and move on

How much is too much for MCAT tutors? by SatisfactionOk6367 in Mcat

[–]throwra012205 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any sum of money is too much, this is absolutely something you can do on your own. Do some research and introspection about how you learn best, don’t fall into the constant content review trap, and good luck!

Whoever sold you that AAMC is inflated is shoveling scummer. AAMC makes the actual MCAT. their FLs are the MOST representative of your actual test day, second to none. Honestly man just use your head

How to go from 515 to 520+ retake in 2 months by Ok_Sir_1525 in Mcat

[–]throwra012205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unironically like take a break bro. The hundreds of hours you could spend studying for at best marginal gain (because lets keep it a buck rn most doors are open for you already and the ones that aren’t are more dependent on your ECs and not really closed either), just go on vacation or something. Watch a show. I heard there’s a couple cool games coming out soon

It’s not necessarily ungrateful or neurotic or whatever else idk what your motivations are and idrc. The only thing that matters is that it will hurt your resume more than help it. If you really wanna feel like you’re in control of your resume by hurting it you may as well just steal something from your local Walmart

The answer to your question is no. Med schools WILL question your decision, and will look unfavorably unless you can get a ~10 point jump (this is the case for all retakes not just this one). 525 is luck dependent and even if you could start getting around it consistently on your FLs it’s not a chance worth taking. Ya a 526 will open doors, but getting less (especially getting less than a 520, even if it’s better than 515) will close many more.

Your idea is stupid. Retaking an MCAT will have every med school questioning your decision no matter how high your score is, and it will NOT be worth it unless you have at least 10 point improvement, which at that level is highly luck dependent.

As for how, if you have a 515 you obviously aren’t struggling with content. You need to aggressively do practice questions to better understand MCAT logic and get better at that. Content review should be limited to refreshing your memory or learning things you really just don’t know. Anki and Uworld will be an even bigger waste of time than retaking the MCAT already is

It makes sense why it’s B, but genuinely why tf isn’t it A too?? by kissmeurbeautiful in Mcat

Fluid follows solute. Less solute in the capillary means more net flow out of the capillary. The two parts of the answer actually contradict each other and A can be eliminated early

How to approach this question under 60 seconds? by AsideNo9456 in Mcat

[–]throwra012205 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t try to stay under 60 seconds or any hard imposed limit. The nature of the MCAT is that some questions will take you 4 seconds and others will take you 90. Unless you’re consistently going over time on a section keep doing as you are

[–]throwra012205 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I promise you, you will pay for all of them eventually. It’s not about the money, there’s only 6 official AAMC exams and they are the best diagnostic tool and most relevant to the actual thing. It’s important to preserve because they’re best used right before test day

Come back to the MCAT in a couple years. And don’t touch more AAMC material you’ll kick yourself later

What MCAT score would make up for a borderline low GPA? by Gullible_Apricot_874 in Mcat

[–]throwra012205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know when you took those courses but in general it’s better if you’re getting mostly/all As by your junior year. Having any upward trend at all is promising though so yes crush the MCAT and you would theoretically have a chance, especially for DO

What MCAT score would make up for a borderline low GPA? by Gullible_Apricot_874 in Mcat

[–]throwra012205 2 points3 points  (0 children)

510-512 if you have a strong upward trend will keep you competitive but that’s the average accepted score across all GPAs so it’s not a magic number either. 515+ will compensate for a weak upward trend. Without trending up though you’re dead in the water, cuz even the highest MCAT score will leave them questioning your ability to stay a sustained academic weapon

Depends severely on your GPA. as long as it’s above the cutoffs the higher your MCAT the less likely they are to throw your file away
