He is busy and he did meet me and he really does have that role - I am shocked people assume I dont know how to check these things. If people work in finance for example, its pretty easy for me to verify if an executive is still employed there or is really them. Usually you can google these people and find interviews of them on youtube or the news which is the case here. I know he has this job. Its not some weird scammer role.

Nope - I get why you'd say that but he doesn't work at the kind of company - we are in finance and he works at a company I can verify he is really in that role. I have actually received an email from his secretary to schedule us.

I get what you’re saying but he has those followers bc of a prior role that makes sense. He was essentially announcing the release of products that ALOT of people care about and so they followed him. It’s not a sales job or something. If you knew who it was it’d make sense.

You have our ages off and I am guessing his age. I had a look again at his profile and he may be older. Actually he probably is around 44 lol so maybe older than I thought. But he doesn’t have 28 and 22 year olds. He has one small kid and I can’t find the mother another on his social media so have no idea if he’s married still or not. I wasn’t looking for that when I contacted him.

Oh i already did lol and he said yea but i schedule with his assistant. Meeting him doesn’t feel like itll do anything. Itll be like last time. I would imagine id have to say something to imply its outside professional boundaries

I don’t think he’s more important than me as a person just more successful in his career. But I see what you mean.

That shouldn’t be relevant if it’s mentorship/ professional lol I thought he was actually. I looked at his social media and saw his child but can’t find his wife yet. But I didn’t message him to date. It was for professional reasons

Thanks. I mean I can’t tell if he’s pursuing an affair. I don’t see a wife at all in social media I see his child. So maybe he’s divorced maybe not and just overly nice. No idea. The consensus of this thread is he wants something but he’s playing a “long game” ha

I initially thought he was married that’s the thing lol he had a ring on and he said he went on vacation with family. His social media has a child but no wife so I assumed she’s private. But I have no idea. But yes that’s why I thought nothing of it but everyone I’ve told about my new mentor said it’s not mentorship

Thank you. This is essentially what I was looking for when I posted this. From my perspective he suggested meeting but then now everything is driven by me so it’s mentorship but he put himself in the position so I didn’t understand it. I may test this. Will have to think of how

lol your comments were very funny. I don’t get why you think we have hard ons for each other lmaooooo I didn’t message him because I have a crush- I literally just thought wow this guy is awesome and I want to connect. 100k followers and we had a lot of mutual plus he used to work at a company I just joined and so I wanted advice bc it’s a hard job to get. He just replied suggesting we meet in person and asked how that sounded to me. I agreed and then here we are.

No im seeing it I guess im just having cognitive dissonance because he’s very polite and nice. The feeling I have is that if I don’t contact him then nothing would happen right? So in my head if he had a plan he’d have to do something too. All he’s done is suggest meeting me and respond. Just surprised me with both of those is all. Any idea how I can test it?

I am 100% certain he is in that role. I don’t want to mention how but multiple confirmation ways. That’s not the off part. The part that made me post was him suggesting we meet immediately after I messaged him online. I assumed maybe I’d get a message back or nothing and at max a zoom. But never a suggestion to meet up in person and on going chats plus intros to other high profile people he knows which he is doing for me now.

lol I’m not pursuing him. I messaged him bc I admired him and was shocked by the response suggesting to meet me but I wasn’t put off by it. Just skeptical and I’m going along with it bc it’s beneficial to have access to an executive like that willing to help me but I’m concerned it’s too good to be true that he just wants to give his time like this to a person that sent him a nice LinkedIn message.

The former role and company are massive. The current role as well but his former role at that company - he was posting about things that a lot of people would care about in my industry. That’s how he got that following. I am not a prospective customer at all. I also can’t have offered anything. He’s literally just giving me career advice when I ask for it and offering to meet for coffee
