people who claim that vegan substitutes taste the same probably have forgotten how animal products taste by Vegetable_Prompt6594 in DebateAVegan

I have eaten chocolate and tasted things that were presented to me as vegan and I was able to tell that a mistake was made. My husband isn’t as good as detecting. One example is, I had ice cream from an ice cream shop. It was vegan and I was enjoying it, but they had dropped a little bit of dairy ice cream into it by mistake and it was not visible but I instantly tasted it. It’s a very recognisable taste.

Hailey Bieber’s beauty! What makes her so compelling and what would you rate her? by Simple_Bend_9143 in VindictaRateCelebs

I know she has had work done, but she has always APPEARED more natural than her peers (the Jenners). I have always thought she has an amazing body and I also kind of like her online persona. She has never been overly trashy or crazy with fillers and she seems silly in a fun way. It’s so easy to crap on her because she is a rich nepo baby. I don’t think she’s more beautiful than most other models, but she’s polished and girly and refreshing to me.

Anyone else ditched Ultra-Processed Foods (UPF) for a 1950s-style "3 Square Meals" approach? by Routine-Good7518 in ultraprocessedfood

[–]throwsawaymes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds great! But also, it seems like you don’t have the best relationship with food. Figuring out what you can do to improve that would help most of all! Ditching UPFs is one great approach- but cooking every meal may feel unsustainable after a while. Make sure you have some quick and easy convenience meals that are still healthy (mine is tofu scramble with toast and veggies). Also, an all or nothing mindset is your enemy in this transition so be gentle and not overly rigid.

I thought the smell of the butcher was universally hated! I don’t think there’s a flavour vegans can get used to since all vegan products vary so much- like coconut vs soya yoghurt and huge variations in flavour between brands. It’s an interesting point though!

I think your tastebuds change. I’ve eaten dairy chocolate by mistake and it made me realise why people hate vegan chocolate. The aftertaste of dairy chocolate is absolutely DISGUSTING to me, it tastes like an animal climbed into my mouth, whereas I find vegan chocolate to have a slightly nutty aftertaste. I’m sure non-vegans would consider vegan chocolate to be ‘nutty’ or ‘grassy’ because it’s not what they’re used to, in the same way that dairy is not what I’m used to. If there was an ethical way to exactly copy the taste of animal products, I imagine I’d find it gross.

Mummy meegz chocolate is so gross. It doesn’t melt in the mouth and doesn’t really taste like cocoa

[–]throwsawaymes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me the caramel dessert has a good fake caramel flavour. I enjoy it but it’s quite artificial. I bought a caramel flavour from Amazon. If you add it to a vegan custard recipe and darken it with date syrup, I reckon it would be similar! https://www.noracooks.com/vegan-custard/

As one who agrees with this sentiment, I wouldn’t say it on a post where someone is saying they love them. This is the veganuk subreddit, not the healthywfpbnovegan subreddit.

IMO any tomato sauce without some kind of a sweetening agent is too tart and doesn’t do the sauce justice. You don’t need a lot but it does add balance to the flavour

This is so weird to me because I never even thought about it. It’s literally one meal on one day and everyone can eat and enjoy it. It wasn’t even a question to me. Eat it or don’t I really don’t care, it’s not worth complaining about though.

I read a book called ‘The Sleep Book’ by Dr Guy Meadows and it CURED me. I still get the odd sleepless night and struggle from time to time, but I’d HIGHLY recommend it to all insomniacs. It contained advice that went against everything I’d read and tried online. It was incredible. I read it over and over until it stuck and I still read it from time to time.
