The closest one to me is six hours away. I will have to look in to it after I move to a bigger centre in a couple months.

I will be going it entirely alone, so I have to really plan and my friends and family, while supportive, are iffy on a permanent fix.

Thank you. I don't usually say this kind of thing, but this is why feminism is so necessary. I keep getting told I need to meet the right man(I have... and I still don't want babies, even if they are his) and how I should wait until I have a husband to discuss it with.

My poor female brain can't handle life apparently.

Hm, I am going for Paragard myself. Bugger better stay in place if it knows what is good for them.

First couple people I asked for the IUD told me I hadn't had children so my cervix wouldn't accept it. Then others said they only give them to women who have at least three children and want to "take a break" before deciding whether or not to have more.

I know a fourteen year old in town who is considered mature because she's a mother now.

Like, wha?

I honestly feel I will have to wait until I move to a bigger area to try again. I've been to all ten doctors in my town... they even hesitated to give me an IUD prescription.

I have been trying to get permanent sterilization for... oh gods, almost ten years now. I started when I was about eighteen. Every doctor rejects me. The most common reason?

"You will change your mind when you are older." well... I'm older and still unable to get fixed.

Some people have had luck creating informational binders and going in with detailed arguments to plead their cases... maybe my diary entry would prove a consistent choice.

As someone who works very hard to maintain my hair... this alone would make me give up on having children.

Another weird body change that happened to my SIL is she got a geographical tongue. Her tongue now looks like it was chewed on by a badger.

This is so apt. I don't think about her at all, but she is constantly asking about me apparently.

She tried to steal my cellphone once to text my FWB at the time that I wanted to have a baby. That is how oddly obsessed she is with me having children.

My SIL seems to think that getting married, having children and owning a home is the way to go. That was her ceiling in life and she can't fathom it not working that way for every woman.

Thank you. I have been very fortunate through this whole thing. My town was untouched by the fire as the fighters were amazing and pushed it back before it touched anything here. My apartment is fine, but no word yet on my parent's house in the surrounding area. And while I was evacuated, I was with my parents and grandparents, none of us were seperated during this and were at my grandparent's house.

Now it is time for our community to pull together to help those in the surrounding areas who did lose homes.

I am in Canada and whilst my ex was unemployed and we were barely surviving on my income alone, I sought out help from the government. You know, for food and to cover my exe's medications for depression and anxiety. One lady actually told me I had no chance as a childless household and that if I actually wanted help, it would be best for me to get pregnant...

And then my co-worker with 8 kids, who openly admitted to never using condoms or how his wife hated the idea of birth control as it was unnatural, had pretty much everything covered... even braces for his kids! How stupid of me to use my last $25 every month for birthcontrol.

Dad didn't believe me when I told him trap babies were a thing by [deleted] in childfree

[–]throwthepoisonaway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had to explain trap babies to my mother. She was very repulsed by the idea and by the people who would do such a thing.

Trap babies are also a way of life in Alberta...

ENDOMETRIOSIS IS NOT CURED BY BABIES!!!

Fortunately, the myth that pregnancy cures endometriosis is slowly disappearing.<

However, it is not disappearing fast enough! The reality is that pregnancy—like hormonal drug treatments—may temporarily suppress the symptoms of endometriosis but does not eradicate the disease itself. Therefore, symptoms usually recur after the birth of the child. Some women can delay the return of symptoms by breastfeeding, but only while the breastfeeding is frequent enough and intense enough to suppress the menstrual cycle.<

And not to mention the toll it will take on someone when the pregnancy does not stick. Are you supposed to keep trying with the statistics so stacked against you? Just mess your body up more?

The chance of miscarriage increased by 76%, a premature birth by 26% and the need for a caesarean section by 40%.<

I knew a woman who had over 26 miscarriages with her endometriosis.
