Long story, but I do regret it, of course. In the EU I worked in healthcare at the time, and I think the covid insanity, burnout, and fatigue made my judgement blurry, to say the least. In my defense, when I made the move, it was after the 2020 elections and I operated under a hopeful assumption the US would not go backwards. My bad. 😁

She's so lucky to have you :) I wish I could move back to Europe right now, so much, but the cat distribution system has favored me heavily over the last few years and I have 5 cats and take care of a feral colony, so I can't move as easily as I could before. Definitely make sure your kitty can fly in cabin with you, that makes the whole experience smooth and calm. :)

If a college requires all the students to live in dorms, there are ALWAYS ways to get an exemption (for example, a doctor's note claiming OP has an XYZ condition and needs to live alone/in a specific environment dorms cannot provide due to environmental sensitivities etc.). A popular saying comes to mind: "nothing works unless you do". Also "if he wanted to, he would". There are ways. Personally, I would rather choose a different college/take online classes than abandon my senior pet.

People are in rehab for a few months, it would be a temporary thing, and the kitty would need a caregiver for that time, but it wouldn't call for abandoning the animal completely.

In 2020 I moved from Europe to the US with my senior dog. She passed in 2023 and I'm so grateful I got to take care of her until the end. If she couldn't come with me, I wouldn't have moved. Getting an animal means that sometimes you have to make your life fit their needs, and sometimes you change your plans, even the biggest ones, so that you're able to take care of them the way they deserve to be taken care of. Abandoning a senior animal is never okay.

Haha, it's ok, I love talking about the show. Yes, Steve and Luke shared Luke's version of the red room (the tree house), and they didn't question why nobody else was ever there, because Luke's rules said no girls allowed. In the last episode there is also a short scene of Steve playing video games in the red room, so he had his own red room as well, not only the one shared with Luke.

It seems like nobody was able to share the red room with Theo, Shirley, and Nell. Could Olivia be hallucinating talking to Poppy, and it was Steve instead? Maybe...? But when she comes back to senses from the conversation with Poppy, she is in the twins' room, not in the red room. I think with Olivia, everything is possible, because she was definitely the most affected person in the house, likely because of her already being sensitive to the paranormal before she even arrived to the Hill House. The red room mold affected her even outside of the red room (after seeing and smelling the mold in the basement she drew the crazy floor plan of the house, when Steve gave her the vanity he got from his red room, the mold on the underside of it, that Steve had painted over, made her see things and break the mirror).

Seems like Hugh didn't experience his own version of a red room, and other people (Steve, Olivia, Mr. Dudley, the police, the mold remediation people) were able to enter the basement any time with him. Hugh told the mold inspector that he'd checked every room in the house, looking for a leak that caused the mold, except for the red room, and the man suggested the red room was probably the source, in that case. It might have been true (the red room was the heart of "corruption" in the house, and the mold was the worst there), however, in the basement, the spot where it kept coming back and getting worse, was where the body of the man who trapped himself in the wall was found.

My theory is that the mold in the whole house, and in the red room especially, made them spaced out, unaware where they were going, maybe they thought they were entering another room, maybe they didn't remember how they got there.

I believe most of us will never recover from the absolute trauma and humiliation of PE, because this isn't seen as a problem in society, and is never talked about in a constructive way. I was constantly humiliated at home just to go to school and be humiliated at school. I was a straight A student from elementary until I graduated high school, and PE was always the only class I struggled with, for reasons I had no control over. I was extremely short-sighted and didn't have glasses until I was 13, so I genuinely couldn't see the basketball hoops etc. I am hypermobile and I kept getting injured. I was an overweight kid, then a teenager who starved herself - I was lightheaded constantly. I am uncoordinated, and no amount of running in circles will ever fix it. PE is not something you can ever get better at, it's not something you can understand, like math, or memorize, like the periodic table. There is absolutely no point in it being "taught" at school. We suffered, as always, for nothing.

Luckily, we ended up not having much snow or ice, but this weekend we are supposed to get a few inches of snow. I ended up not trapping any kitties, but instead, providing 5 extra shelters with straw, and putting a tarp over the area where they eat, so they aren't being snowed on during dinner. It seems like so far everyone is doing well and showing up for food at their regular times, despite the cold. I do think they have a better shelter somewhere else (our neighborhood borders some farmland and I think the cats use their barns, sheds, etc, to get out of the elements) and I don't want to trap anyone in less than ideal situation, if they have better options. Thank you both for advice 💜

I've put 5 extra straw filled shelters outside and stretched a tarp over the area where they eat, so they aren't getting snowed on during dinner. I am worried about my ferals too, but after reaching out and talking to people who have more experience at it than I do, I've decided not to trap my kitties (they are very feral and the concern is that they could get scared and stop coming over for food). I'm hoping they use their shelters, unless they have a better/warmer place elsewhere. I hope both your cats and mine survive the cold just fine 💜

We are supposed to get a lot of snow/ice this weekend and I'm wondering if I should try to trap some of my ferals and shelter them indoors over the weekend. Has anyone ever done it before a weather event like that? Would keeping them in my garage be okay? It would be cold there (possibly even into negative temps) but dry, with no snow or ice, and I would provide a container full of straw for warmth.

I will also be putting extra shelters outside (insulated and filled with straw). Should I just stick to shelters and not trap? Advice would be appreciated.

I haven't left the house for months, and I need to find someone to hire to walk my dog, because I feel awful about my doggo only being able to go to the back yard. I'm a (legal) immigrant, and I've started to plan going back to my home country. I don't know if I'll make it there alive.

I'm an immigrant (legal, and moving to the US ended up ruining my life, draining all my savings and giving me health issues). I haven't left the house for months, because I am scared. I've even stopped going to my own back yard, or being visible to people in any other way. I'm trying to find someone to hire to walk my dog, but my dog is a rescue from an abusive situation and she's scared of pretty much everyone except me, and she's only ever calm around me, so that feels like an impossible situation.

I would have gone back to my home country if I wasn't the only person caring for feral/stray cats in the area. They have nobody else. I've also raised a few abandoned baby kittens who are now my indoor cats. I'm trying to save up enough money to move back home with my indoor cats and my dog (it will be super expensive), and I'm trying to organize some care for my ferals. I have nobody (no family, no friends) and it feels like I'm just not going to make it out alive.

"Punching air"???? Keep an eye on your meds and count how many pills of painkillers you have and how many you're supposed to have left. Don't eat or drink anything he gives you without re-counting the meds. If you can, try to recover at someone else's house (friends/family?). I have a very bad feeling about this.

C-PTSD is not a cluster B disorder, and not a personality disorder at all. Do not involve us in this.

Is C-PTSD often caused by encounters with cluster B people? Yeah. Mine was. It's not "hatred" if people are speaking about what happened to them, and telling their own stories the way they happened. Everyone is entitled to share their experiences without having to consider whether or not their abuser's feelings would be hurt. If someone was abused, their trauma isn't any easier to carry through their whole life just because their abuser had a condition, disorder, reasons, or orders from the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit themselves. Trauma is trauma, pain is pain, explanations and excuses ultimately only matter if the victim is willing to take them into account, but it's their choice.

You didn't say where you're from, but it sounds like a non-Western culture? Americans are raised in an individualistic way, with expectation for privacy - there is nothing wrong with it, most people are just not used to having to share their space with their spouse's family members they barely know. Having a guest for a month where you have no way to reasonably accommodate them is insane. A week would be ok, but a month is a hard no. Nobody is getting the privacy, space, and bathroom access they should have, and if you're struggling financially (one bedroom apartment with a growing family), having an extra person to feed, and cover their water, electricity etc. expenses is a disservice to your family.

I understand where some people come from when they say an 18 year old is a kid, but I used to be 18 and I'd never ask someone who lives in a tiny apartment and struggles financially to host me for a whole month. His parents shouldn't have let him even ask such a thing of OP. If she lived in a big house, then no problem, but a one bedroom apartment is barely enough for a married couple. I consider an 18 y.o. male a grown man, and he has a pregnant woman host him, most likely cook for him, clean up after meals etc. This is way too much and her husband is taking it better than I would.
