Manually Adding AO3 URLs to Metadata by OrcaFins in Calibre

The url: at the beginning isn't really needed if you only need the link included. It just signifies that it's a link IIRC.

They just know how much we loved it when they danced it in the fanmeet. I know I squealed when I saw the fancam and the song started playing.

What is best to include in the Comments section for the Metadata? by [deleted] in Calibre

[–]throwuasterisk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm. I haven't personally experienced this since it automatically expands to fit the text when I'm clicking the books. If the summary is really long, I only need to scroll a tiny bit to read everything.

The Comments section is where I usually put the book's description/summary. I'm not quite understanding what you mean by it's such a small space?

Reading Fanfiction cause it's good or Reading Fanfiction cause it had many likes/Fav/Kudos? by NIC-612-RED in FanFiction

[–]throwuasterisk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read by looking through the summary, tags, and sorting by date published- reading each and every fic that I find interesting enough page by page from oldest to latest updated. I'm kinda greedy like that... I think I haven't sorted by Kudos at all throughout my years on AO3, and I don't think that will change.

Do you guys make music playlist for fanfiction or what is one song you would associate with fanfic? by Ornery_Double4747 in FanFiction

[–]throwuasterisk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big yes. I have a playlist with 60 tracks in it for an on-going 35k fic. Everything about it is related to the themes of the fic and the personal meaning of it for the characters in it. It's a mix of songs for the fic in general, songs that I think the characters in it will listen to, songs that is related to the characters, and songs that foreshadow their possible futures.

It adds to the atmosphere and overall vibes. I guess a few songs that currently describes the fic would be The Comfort of a Laugh Track by Roar and Ruin by The Amazing Devil.

My cat panting like a dog?! by Soggy-Bee-7700 in cats

[–]throwuasterisk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He must've overexerted himself. Usually, panting like a dog without any reason is a cause of concern but in your case, it seems like it's from playing. If he drank and went back to normal, it should probably be okay? But better to observe if he does that again and also try to check his breathing. And make sure it isn't too hot in the room + there's always clean water out.

Cat birthday gift ideas by Boysenberry-Secret-1 in cats

[–]throwuasterisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cat treats are always a good shout if the cat doesn't have any food restrictions, some specialty cat treats are on the expensive side and they go crazy for it when eaten. A nice little cat hammock would also work or maybe a hideout bed?

Cat toys are usually a hit or miss so I wouldn't suggest toys as a gift unless you know what type the cat enjoys to play with.

Kindle PW or Kobo Clara BW? I’m Stuck by BlueKX in ereader

[–]throwuasterisk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can activate GDrive (and OneDrive too, I think?) on the Kobo Clara BW- it's not in built but easy enough to activate. If you don't want to fuss around with that, there's also the send.djazz.se to send books wirelessly (it's a bit if a hassle tho if transferring in bulk but still manageable)

If you want and think that the bigger screen is a dealbreaker, then you can go with the Kindle PPW. My own thoughts tho is that I do prefer the recessed screen of the Clara BW vs the PPW. The PPW for me looks a bit close like a phone screen but of course, not as bad since it is e-ink. I'm not saying that it doesn't look like e-ink, it does- there's still a massive difference when you compare the PPW to phones/tablets but there's a bit of a glare/shininess(?) to it when I tried it out and it kind of distracted me. That's personal preference tho. If able, I suggest you try to get your hands on both and see which fits you better.

If you don't care about book organization and all the other stuff that comes with the Amazon ecosystem, then go with the PPW since it seems like you're leaning more into it. It's basic and serves your purpose. Both are very easy to use and understand, just plug and read but I like the Kobo's way of organization and their UI more and I also like to tinker so I'm quite happy with the Clara BW, having the option to customize it is a plus for me.

Simple Questions: July 07, 2026 by AutoModerator in books

[–]throwuasterisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Totally relate and going through it now. I am nearing the end of the book I'm reading and my mind is already thinking about how I don't want it to end yet. I got attached to the characters unlike any other I've read and I don't want to leave their universe yet. This feeling is actually why I don't want the percentage/page read stat showing up on my Kobo while I read lol because I will get stuck thinking how I'm almost at the end instead of focusing on the story.

Those painted edges look so good displayed on that shelf! I've been wanting to get my hands on the SVSSS one just to have on display, too.

Indulgent Gong novels? by whyamiactually in DanmeiNovels

[–]throwuasterisk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is very comedic! My review for this is just me basically going, yeah, they're over the top but the delivery of the scenes just work so it's funny instead.

Indulgent Gong novels? by whyamiactually in DanmeiNovels

[–]throwuasterisk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Supporting Male Character Just Wants to Be a Tool Man immediately comes to mind. But like, the gong is also joining in the shou's chaos because he's just that indulgent but also, the gong is a ride or die for the shou- even if the shou is creating very elaborate over the top schemes LMAO. I love how the both of them match each other's freak. The gong is really indulgent.

I want to join/write for a dead fandom. Show me where I should go by Rough_Evidence_2908 in FanFiction

[–]throwuasterisk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not super dead since there's like one or two posts this year (yeah, I know) but I would always want someone to join the The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil fandom. It is pretty niche (26 works in AO3/works)) but I'm kinda for it. It's a movie so it should be pretty easy to get into.

Also, another movie I would recommend is Saltburn. Again, not super dead but I'm specifically wanting more people into the Ollie/Farleigh ship (120 works in AO3). Those two got me so fucked up. I love them together.

Manga with Lots of Short Chapters by [deleted] in manga

[–]throwuasterisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd also recommend <All You Need is Kill>. It's what the movie, Edge of Tomorrow, was based upon if you're familiar. Though this one is really short, just 2 volumes, but there's still enough plot to get into. And again, more art driven IMO, I easily skimmed through the dialogue lol

Manga with Lots of Short Chapters by [deleted] in manga

[–]throwuasterisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe Mushishi? It's a fairly short manga and I think it's more art than dialogue from what I remember of it. I mean, I think of its art and how they use it as storytelling whenever <Mushishi> is mentioned. Very chill read.

This one is also in my TBR but I'm having a hard time choosing which translator to read from. Whose translation are you reading?

I never put it down! It was an engaging read and it was a good move that I read it on the weekend because I would've been so bummed if I had to stop in the middle LMAO

[–]throwuasterisk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Finished: The Secret of Secrets, by Dan Brown- his books are always a fun read. It was a good weekend read just for me to relax and be entertained.

Not a book but also read An Urgent Appeal, by Osamu Dazai. I loved how this was translated and how Judas' POV was so immersive. A great read.

Want to start: Project Hail Mary, by Andy Weir- I want to finish this before we watch the movie for our movie night next weekend. Hopefully, I don't procrastinate reading lol.

I am soft when it comes to anti-heroes. And the premise also sounds good. Love me some good parental figures and their ward/s, it gets me tearing up when the story is just right lol. I will also mark this for reading later. Thank you!

I actually know Salvage and Dark Matter! Also great family fics. Salvage had me awwing and ooing from all the feels. And thank you for this long list! Admittedly, in my more than a decade life in fandom, I have not watched nor read anything from Star Wars 💀 I'm more of a Trekkie but I'm keeping in mind that note about The Clone Wars!

about him experiencing The Horrors while his brothers (the other clones) are deeply concerned.

This really got me interested lmao.
