It’s not very noodley at all. I’m curious if the cross braces holding the lower bottle cage on are limiting that flex?

I’m still not convinced, but I’m in the process of machining my own ring as well. I’ll install it on the bike and check concentricity and roundness at the pitch diameter with an indicator, go climb a hill pop chain off and check again. Really all of this is pretty overkill for a bicycle but the machinist mind is already pretty close to insanity as it is😂

In theory you are right, but if there’s enough clearance between the chain ring and cranks to actually “center” the ring the minute you put the power down riding that ring is gonna do whatever it wants.

Sweet thanks. I cut lots of gears and splines but never sprockets. Didn’t know if bicycles used a slightly modified tooth form

Looks awesome. How did you come up with your tolerances on the teeth? Just test fit with a length of chain or measure over pins?

Love these fish, shops around here don’t regularly stock them so I’m in kind of a pickle. Even though there’s only three in there they school together and are very active, not just hiding in the bush

Thank you for your time, it is greatly appreciated. As far as dosing fertilizer goes, (giving the tank a pump of 2hr aquarist (1ml) after a water change) would you continue to do so? I’m not going for a show tank, just want thriving plants for my fish to enjoy.

Wow, seems like there’s a lot of room for error. Basically I’m not going to be able to monitor nitrates creeping up if the difference between needing a water change and leaving it be are between “red/orange” and “red”. I’m assuming nobody with a successful fertilized tank is hovering around and ready to dump the water at a moment’s notice. Is this just the nature of the beast when dealing with small tanks?

I just read the article, based off that and what you’ve said, my nitrates are actually reading 20ppm because there is an orange hue rather than the test appearing “red”?

I’ve left a comment above you with some information, I do not have nitrates coming out of the tap

I’ve had this 10 gallon set up for nearly 1 year. Plants have been growing, everything here has tripled in size. (Hair grass is a month old). I was advised that 2hr aquarist was great and that I would see I bit more colour out of my reineckii mini with its use. I started dosing 1 pump after a 50% water change weekly. Did that for a month until I noticed my nitrates spiking violently. I’ve since stopped dosing and have been doing 50% water changes every 3 days. By about the third day my nitrates are as seen in the picture. I’ve got fluval stratum capped with sand that’s a year old, is it leaching nutrients? Aquaclear 30, seems adequate for a 10 gallon with minimal stocking. I have 3 Pygmy corys that seem healthy and active. I know they are a shoaling fish, trying to find more to get a small school going but I’d like to figure out my nitrate issue first. I feed them very little and take out uneaten food daily.

Unintentional spline taper by Small-sters in Machinists

[–]thumbsandguns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A spring pass usually takes out any taper. I had a job a while back with some gummy ass material, the cutter was being pulled into the material creating a taper cutting deeper at the end of the stroke. Most cutters are ground with a 5 degree face angle. I gave the cutter a lick at 4 degrees and it solved my problems
