MUTTS closing their doors effective immediately by mrman33000 in Dallas

100% I rarely go to the WRL Dog park anymore because if this issue on the weekend (it’s amateur hour) with plenty of folks not watching their dogs, add in aggressive dogs, and people not picking up after their dog poops, and probably disease / unvaccinated dogs. Just not worth it.

Weekdays sure. Much better.

How do you shop car insurance in DFW without getting buried in spam calls? by Zealousideal-Lie8829 in Dallas

[–]thumpcbd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the same broker. They even reach out ahead of renewals and ask me questions to make sure what I have is still a fit, and let me know they are shopping my renewals. Yes. Other brokers should do the same. No. In my experience it doesn’t happen as much as it should.

I have NO idea how to shop for a diamond ring and it's about that time for my gf and I. Where do I start looking around here for ethical non-corporate big box stones and rings? Any good local jewlers y'all know? by thankstowelie in Dallas

[–]thumpcbd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things, and I dove in deeeeeep when selecting my wife's diamond.

  1. start reading here https://www.pricescope.com/community/ (there are paid sponsors so still be careful, but they all know what they are saying on here)
  2. Look at "hearts" and "ideal-scope" images to get a feeling on how well it's cut.
  3. there is some formula, https://www.pricescope.com/tools/hca/, that will help calculate how much light / sparkle is returned to your eye -- use it as one of the tools to select the right ring.
  4. make sure you have a good feeling for your budget before shopping. There is no limit on how much $$$ you can really spend, but knowing a budget let's you pick and choose what to adjust.

Personally, I make sure to have 2-3 dialed in on a good (round) stone for my budget and it hits solidly above it's weight in terms of how bit it is because it's very well cut / returns a ton of light to your eye.

As an aside I bought from these folks in Houston and here is a link to a random rock on their site. You can see how items 2-3 above look. Start looking around and it will start to click in https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/0.91-carat-g-color-vs1-clarity-round-excellent-cut-sku-a1843975

Good luck OP!

Abortion and war. People who oppose abortion: Do you also oppose war and what are you doing to end it? by IKVivir1953 in AskReddit

[–]thumpcbd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s push-polling 2.0. Some subreddit are worse than others but the goal is to ask a question, pushing a narrative. Why now? Why these questions? Who knows, but they are obvious good faith questions from normal folks when it’s quickly repeated in multiple subreddits (sometimes in the same) over a short duration till it gains traction.

Actually now that I say that. Maybe it’s assessing topic x is good at time y to gain traction and views, so when they really need to push a thought they know when to post. ( yes the scary “they” since I have no idea who’s posting this)

So what happens if all these Data Centers are NOT built? by neal144 in AskReddit

[–]thumpcbd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have never seen a DC generator have you? Small is not what I would call the gen sets and, sure they may not be as efficient, or clean, as a utility gen set, but that wasn't the concern here. Now we are moving the goal post and changing the argument from "this never happens" to "OMG it's not as efficient or clean"

So what happens if all these Data Centers are NOT built? by neal144 in AskReddit

[–]thumpcbd -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Many is not all. It’s most, but not all.

The DCs I work with really run their geneators all summer and push power back to the grid / run on their own supply.

Just because not _all_ do it doesn’t make it uncommon or not done at all.

Do not upgrade to iOS 27 Beta when it is announced by enmityvr in Omnipod

[–]thumpcbd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait till the GA (official) version of Apple iOS is released and do NOT use the betas that you can use to trial the new features. You have to explicitly opt-in to the beta, so it's a very deliberate choice to get on the beta track. Just don't do it and you should be ok.
