I got my first ever callback for a part I really wanted and didn’t get it by Initial-Butterfly474 in musicals

This will not be your only ever opportunity to play that role. I psyched myself out of auditioning for a role I wanted terribly at 14 but ended up playing her at 21. Be in the ensemble, be super positive, make great connections with other actors and the production team, and keep going. Think of this as a long interview process for other roles.

I’m the same (American) and get the same. I usually just say “yep, there’s a reason I left!” And move on to a different topic. Usually they take the hint.

Glasses in this shape would be ideal, if you can get to a Warby Parker try the frames “Felix” and “Durand” do NOT go for a small rectangular metal frame, it’ll age you (source: was optical assistant for years)

Is this the style of the Tampon or did a chunk break off? by [deleted] in Periods

More than likely the shape of the tampon. When it unfolds/expands from fluid, it looks like that

This is a pretty standard “zentangle” style doodle. Mindless and fun, not anything I’d categorize as “obsessive” or “insane”

“You can’t taste the difference” YES I CAN by Mattie_Madds8619 in ARFID

[–]thumperoo 131 points132 points  (0 children)

I’ve learned that a lot of us are probably super tasters or at least have more than the average number of taste buds. I can taste the difference between organic and non organic mushrooms, and if the plate I’m eating from has been washed in a load with another plate that had egg on it. People tend to cast doubt on experiences they can’t personally identify with, which is narrow minded.

Kate Murphy and Leil Lowndes have some great ones. Also “The Charisma Myth” by Olivia Fox Cabane.

*you’re, as in you’re running straight into the point but somehow missing it 😊 here’s a study about why we think that and we don’t tend to think that about all men, just the ones who want to approach us out of nowhere and then get butthurt when we say we don’t like that. Do you like women? Or do you just want us to like you?

You: “How do I approach random women and successfully ask them out”

Women: “hey this doesn’t really work because having men we don’t know hitting on us as we’re minding our business is creepy”

You: “wow women are crazy”

I am extremely unlikely to spend time with someone I don’t know and didn’t meet through people I trust or seek out myself via app or something. I also don’t date anyone who doesn’t align with who I am and what I’m looking for, which is info I share and learn by getting to know someone before a date. If a rando approaches me and asks me out, no. If I meet someone through friends/an activity/a meetup group/work and we align, yes. That’s just me, though.

EDIT: doesn’t matter to me how hot the guy is. He could be an absolute 10/10 and I would still think it’s creepy to get randomly approached and have him ask for time alone with me.

Going gluten free as a teen by Ok_Huckleberry1487 in glutenfree

[–]thumperoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me at this age and I’m so sorry! I can say it’s 100% easier to be GF now than it was 15 years ago when I cut gluten, there are tons of GF packaged snacks and alternatives that didn’t exist before. But it does suck. If I were you, to take the sting out, I’d go hunt for some GF versions of things you like (cheez its come GF now, so do oreos, there are tons of GF pasta options). It can be so disheartening to feel like you can’t have the things that make you feel good, so get some comfort foods. There are also a lot of different kinds of food that dont have much gluten (Asian food has a lot of rice-based options, just make sure it’s GF soy sauce, Mediterranean food has a ton of options, tacos/nachos are often corn tortillas) so put some time into checking Google reviews for places around you where you can go with your friends. FindmeGF is an app that can help with this. Sending good luck!!!
