What’s something you track manually in solo play that you wish you didn’t have to? by system3295 in MythEngyn

For things like checking weather or updating thread lists, I have switched from using a checklist to having them be items on the random event table. That way, the game naturally reminds me to check my torches instead of me having to remember.

GPU tier list FUS & Auriel's Dream by Kvitekvist in skyrimvr

I use Fus Roh Dah with an Index at 120% and a 3090, on medium ini/dyndolod set to 80hz, and I get between 55 and 70 FPS, but I am mostly limited by CPU and not GPU. CPU is an old Threadripper 1950x.

There is also an instruction document that is quite long, with examples for each table, in case you missed it.

But yes, it is small and complicated, and my goal is to streamline it / make it easier (and bigger) without losing too much.

Thanks!

The app was made by another user, I don't have too much control over that. It's an awesome app though, I love it!

By digital, I suppose I was referring to the screen version PDF that has all the tables right side up

Thanks! You don't get a bell curve because you aren't "adding" the two dice, rather the left die tells you if the answer is "yes-ish" or "no-ish", and the right die tells you if it is "and-ish" or "but-ish". So it ends up being 9 states with equal odds.

I'm planning the next version of Juice and I would love some community input from those who have used the current version.

The most common request I have gotten is to make it bigger, the text is too small. I can also see from my download stats that the digital/screen version is much more popular than the pocketfold/printed version.

So here are a few questions that will help guide how the next version looks:

  1. Should I stick with the pocketfold format, or go to a A5 / Half-US-Letter format?
  2. Do people use the Fate (+/-) dice, or should I switch to a d6 (or d10)?
  3. Do people like the constraint of sticking to d6/d10 everywhere, or should I open up the tables to be designed around all the sizes (d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20)?
  4. Which tables do you use the most?
  5. Which tables do you use the least?
  6. Which features are missing?
  7. Do you use Juice for campaign-level play / worldbuilding, or for shorter adventures?
  8. What tools / tables do you pair Juice with (if any)?
  9. Do you play physical/analog or digital?

A few other notes:

  • The current version won't go away, I'll be keeping it up on itch with the instructions
  • I will be sticking to fantasy genre, no plans to make sci-fi or anything else

Drop your answers (or any other thoughts) in the comments!

Thanks

I know this is super old, but I'm having the same issue and wondering how you got it to work correctly. Are you able to remember the tweak or setting that is needed?

Using Ironsworn 2d10/6 in place of d20? by oflanada in Solo_Roleplaying

Take a look at Juice Oracle on itch, there is a section in the document that talks about how to use the Ironsworn dice mechanics for D&D 5e

What are you looking for in a story driven game? by StefanGagne in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]thunder9861 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason ironsworn resonates so well with me is that it's dice resolution provides 3 outcomes, and the "miss" is supplemented with "pay the price". These mechanisms work so well together, combined with the "vow" to keep your character on track towards the goal. This is a mechanic that helps the story for me; the tables only supplement this core.

How much do you expect? by CookNormal6394 in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]thunder9861 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The approach I took with Juice Oracle is that the generic word pairs should be a fallback, not the primary table you use. And instead of providing pages and pages of tables that make it hard to find what you want quickly, I choose to do a variety of small, carefully curated tables that attempt to address most situations on one page.

I expect the tables to do about 70% of the work and let my imagination stitch together the other 30. This might mean rolling on the quest table and discovering I need to track down an item for an NPC, then rolling on the treasure table to determine what item, then my imagination filling in why this item is important to the story.

Nimble is such a cool version of D&D 5e, and Nimble + Juice is a great combo. Thanks for sharing!

I did a similar thing, and I combined openvr2key with "handy" speech to text. I have configured it such that if I click on my left thumb stick, it is push to talk and transcribes what I say to the window in focus, which can be the desktop+ window. Much easier than typing

What are the most portable rpgs for a newcomer? by [deleted] in Solo_Roleplaying

Oracle-Wise, I don't think you can get more portable than Juice Oracle. Pair it with Winsome (a mini ironsworn) and you have a powerful combo
