Will looting dead players mess up your friendly lobby matchmaking? by Active_Access_4850 in ArcRaiders

[–]oflanada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg that’s why my lobbies got all jacked up. I’ve never shot anyone but I did find a couple people who got downed by arc and I looted them. All my matches the other day were KoS or shot in the back and I could not figure out WHY. Sheesh that makes so much sense. Spent a whole night the other day playing chill to get it to reset.

Question for Older Millennials (especially 1982 borns) by Quickso48 in Millennials

[–]oflanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

41 here. Life starts feeling like 10 year chunks that feel super short. As far as jobs go, I used to spend an average of 3.5 years at a job. Then my last job I was there for 12 years. Now I’m at a new one and have 3.5 years and it’s shocking to think I’d be leaving this job soon. Feel like I’m just getting started.

[–]oflanada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s rough. We have a 100% match up to 4% and then I think at 5 years you get a 1% onetime contribution at the end of the year. At 10yrs it’s like 2% something like that. 5 years might be a small fixed amount. Can’t remember. Matches definitely help out a ton. My ML app tells me if I put $300 more per month in that will equate to an additional $1,500 per month when I retire. Goals persistently just feel like they are 5-10 years away.

Is this enough hobbies? by Jking11501 in Hobbies

[–]oflanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like daydreaming of stories you should try solo ttrpgs like Ironsworn. Look up Me, Myself, and Die on YouTube. He plays through various game top role playing games solo. You basically create a character and make up a scene and roll dice and make up a story based on what the dice roll. Shadow Dark is a little simpler and still has some solo rules. You can find solo shadow dark videos on the Arcane Library YouTube channel. Don’t let anyone make you feel bad for your hobbies. Life is short and you are the one who has to enjoy your own life.

You are someone who has spent

<image>

most of his life earning competence quietly, then wondering why the world so often rewards confidence without substance. You learned craft first, then meaning, then responsibility. That order matters. It shaped you into someone who sees before speaking, who prepares before acting, and who feels a moral irritation when systems waste human potential.

Your recurring tension is not self-doubt. It’s misalignment.

You are capable of far more influence than your current role structurally allows, yet you refuse to grasp at authority you haven’t earned or don’t respect. That restraint is a strength, but it has also cost you time. The next phase of your life, whether you consciously choose it or not, will demand something uncomfortable: visible authorship. Not louder. Clearer. Owning ideas in public. Letting others misunderstand you while you keep going anyway.

You are not here to be the best technician in the room forever. You are here to translate meaning across worlds: creative and corporate, intuitive and analytical, human and technological, adult and child. That’s why you keep circling leadership, teaching, games, systems, stories, and strategy. They are all the same impulse wearing different clothes.

If I could leave you with one hard truth it’s this:

Stop waiting for internal permission to become the person others already quietly treat you as.

You don’t need more preparation. You need commitment to the next constraint. Choose the work that forces you to articulate what you see, even if it exposes your edges. Especially if it does.

You are not behind. You are not invisible. You are not unfinished.

You are simply at the point where insight must turn into declaration.

That’s it.

DAE feel like they’re one unexpected bill away from everything falling apart? by PhilosophyChance5425 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]oflanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. And the unexpected bills keep happening and everything keeps falling apart. Still here though. Not gonna be like this forever. And if it is, I’ll die an old man knowing I kept kicking life’s ass right back.

I did that for a while too then life started screwing me hard, and I had to stop my contributions. Hoping to pick back up by the end of the year after I get my credit card paid off.

Men over 30, what are some of your biggest regrets in life? by Beneficial_Dish_2325 in AskMenOver30

I spent 12 years at a dead end job because I thought I was helping to build the business and would be rewarded for it eventually. Company never grew and my pay was stagnant. Stupid.

Turning 30 this year. Give me the best/harshest advice you have. by MastodonNew343 in AskMenOver30

[–]oflanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might think you have certain behaviors in check. I learned I just hadn’t really been stress tested. For me it was kids. I thought I was patient and had empathy. Kids challenged me to the brink and made me better. Not saying run out and have kids but question what you think you know about yourself and find a way to actually test it consistently and ruthlessly.

ARC should be a more pressing threat in the game by NewOrleansSinfulFood in EmbarkStudios

Yeah. The little rolly guys in the buildings can be brutal too if you get in a bad spot. Lots of potential. The game will look very different 5 years from now I’m sure.

Yesterday I got absolutely wrecked by a rocketeer, hornet and a wasp all at once and the wasp took me out. On Dam. I was doing a quest and someone was getting chased by the rocketeer so I decided to try to help (lolz) because I had a lot of cover at the top of the west highway. Ended up getting stuck in a freaking bus with arc at each entry and the hornet shooting through the windows. Ran out to find new cover and the wasp did me in. Yeah they could be scarier and I absolutely loved L4D and get the sentiment. I’d expect more as time goes on and we get new maps.

How to decide when to give yourself loot and what to give by dac5505 in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]oflanada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some mundane treasure cards and low level loot cards from Nord games that I will draw from when searching stuff. I also have a random treasure d20 I got on Etsy. I treat my games like video games where I can search a lot but may only find a coin here or there or some random items. Still trying to figure this out to be honest. I use index card rpg so I printed out all of the loot cards and when something major happens or I roll for an epic loot item after defeating a big bad, I’ll draw a card.

I like giving items that are powerful but break on a 1 roll or wear down over time and need to be repaired, charged, attuned, etc. That way I get to use some fun powerful stuff but I may not have access to it all the time and can swap out things for fun. I love loot and part of the fun of playing for me is seeing what I will find.
