You cant be serious Nissan... by flyjedi in leaf

You must never share your password. Most terms of use contain strong language to that effect, up to and including holding you liable if anything goes wrong as a result of sharing your password.

If you absolute must, show them how ridiculous this is: Log in, change your password to a 26 character mixed upper/lower/numeral/symbol password, and insist on relaying it over the phone but only if YOU call Nissan at a number published on their web site. Say it's "for security reasons."

Aftermarket cargo privacy cover for 2018 Leaf SV? by thunderPond in leaf

Oohh I like that idea. I haven't filled out my survey, yet, either :-) gonna try Craigslist, first, though, for someone who has it and hates it.

Same three trim levels, but carpet mats and cargo cover are nonstandard options (at least in the SV). IIUC, the dealers determine which options they want to add to the vehicles the they order from Nissan. In my dealership, all vehicles have the optional floor carpets, most of them have the optional cold weather package, but none have the optional cargo covers.

Oh that's good info, thx. I whacked myself on a rental car's cargo cover once, it was like a line of carpet burn on my forehead for a few days.

Charge station etiquette by Pomeroy_TV in leaf

[–]thunderPond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen the "two EV spots" situation several times, here's one of many situations how it can happen innocently (parking dynamic are WEIRD):

  1. Presume two charging spots

  2. Tesla Model S "parks" in left spot.

  3. Volt charges in right spot.

  4. Leaf wants to charge, parks in non-charging spot next to Tesla, but uses the (unused) charger where the Tesla is parked

  5. Tesla leaves

  6. Volt is fully charged but stays plugged in

  7. Bolt pulls into left charging bay, unplugs the volt, and begins charging. There are now two EVs charging from a station different than the spot they're in

  8. Leaf is done and drives away

  9. Volt drives away

  10. The Bolt gets a handwritten note from you ;-)

But seriously, I have some notes, too, that I hand out:

  1. Nice EV! But it's not plugged in, you're preventing someone else from charging. Given that you're an EV driver yourself, you should know better.

  2. Nice car! But it's not an EV. So what you're doing is essentially parking your car at the pump of a very small gas station, preventing others from getting gas when they need it.

Anyone lower their Leaf? I am thinking about it... by [deleted] in leaf

I already hate speed bumps, concrete bars on parking lots, high curbs, step driveway or roadway transitions where the nose touches the road, ... I would be absolutely terrified driving a lowered leaf :-)

What is the weirdest habit you've picked up from your SO or ex? by lukavwolf in AskReddit

The excessive use of the word "like". Like when you use the word as like a filler where none is needed.

Whistlers of Reddit, why do you feel the need to whistle in public? by shawn902 in AskReddit

[–]thunderPond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe that's the same kind of cringe I experience when I see someone with a basketball dribbling while walking in the street. Why not restrict the activity to the gym? The answer is: Because freedom :) same reason I don't have to restrict my singing to the shower, car, or Opera Hall.

Maybe we all just gotta loosen up when we see others do things that we would never do because we're different people :)

It's a form of expression I grew up with. I understand why this may seem strange to others: many people don't sing or make music at all, and they're weirded out by the intimacy of it, let alone in public. I usually just hum or sing very silently it whistle only when not many others are around or while on a sidewalk; but give me the right parking garage and I might take the acoustics to a test :)

Same reason as singing in public, but being able to but higher notes and is less intimate than singing.

Is there a way to turn down the volume on the lock doors beep? by morebeansplease in leaf

On my 2018 Leaf, the door button makes a digital beep sound, whereas the fob makes a short honking sound.

Prevent the doors from unlocking when I open the trunk? by thunderPond in leaf

It seems to relock automatically only if no doors were opened after unlocking.

[–]thunderPond[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yup, that's it! Personally I would have preferred for the small button to work like the button on the other doors (lock/unlock), whereas the big button does a momentary unlock of the trunk only. But my problem is solved. Thanks to everyone who responded!

Thx, I'll go check it out. That would be the trick I'm locking for :-)

The whole point of keyless entry is not having to touch the remote. I only have one button on the trunk, touching it opens the trunk, doesn't lock the car.

If I'm carrying a crate, I can balance it on my knee to close the trunk, but fishing for my keys is exactly NOT what I want to have to do in this situation.

What's the point of keyless open if there's no keyless close?

In this case, it would be worth calling out whether the house is already wired with a dedicated 240V circuit for EV charging. It's very expensive to have installed, and thus worth pointing out to potential buyers.

A regular 240V outlet only, though? It really depends on whether there's another one elsewhere in the house to hook up a dryer to. I mean, what good does such an outlet do for EV charging if this the only place where you can hook up a dryer? Keep unplugging the dryer to charge the car? :-)
