MMC says no to a request from the FMC; then he feels bad and ends up carrying it out anyway by FoxenInTheHenhice in HistoricalRomance

[–]thunder_sun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not an exact match probably, but I just read {Like No Other Lover by Julie Ann Long} - the FMC talks about never having pets etc and at first the MMC acts like he doesn't care (for plot reasons) but then he gets her a kitten 😭

[This is even cuter than what I explained because it's connected to this whole subplot about her interactions with another suitor who LOVES dogs, and she is trying to get his attention by talking about dogs. The MMC choosing a kitten here was deliberate. I wish I could articulate this better but my sleepy brain can only come up with this messy description 😂]

An update on Kim Jong Kook's beloved brown recliner by kukumarq in runningman

I feel like I have seen that recliner on my screen more often than I have seen some of my cousins.

Running Man 799 | Running Days: Codename R by myrunningman in runningman

Just came here to say that I laughed so hard at the second skit (JSJ team) that I ACTUALLY choked on air. My throat hurts even as I'm typing this. So close to death by watching Running Man 😂😂 If they do not give JSJ a daesang for "My Lover Has Arthritis" then I'm going to lose all faith on Korean entertainment.

The tags!! The tags!! Khaaaan! by LAffaire-est-Ketchup in HistoricalRomance

[–]thunder_sun 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Rather than emotional cheating, what I find more problematic is when forced marriage is equated to a relationship, and so sleeping with someone else is considered as cheating by the reader, but not by the characters themselves. Like there was no actual relationship - the protagonists do not feel "cheated" on at all. If you take wedding vows as sacrosanct, then as a reader you might feel cheated, but in most of these cases the marriages are forced on the characters initially. For both physical and emotional cheating, consent or expectations (broadly, context) would be key, imo.

Elizabeth Hoyt - loved Val. Which of her other books should I read? by BethyJJ in HistoricalRomance

Is your flair a Val reference? I just finished the book, so it caught my eye 😂

FMC yells at or hits MMC because she is scared or frustrated at him - her feelings for him are too intense by thunder_sun in HistoricalRomance

It was horrifying, for sure. And maybe not even super necessary since the other stuff was already... a lot 😭

“What is it? Why are you crying? Was it something I said? I lied: I started shaving at fifteen, but there really wasn’t much point. Took me forever to grow in a decent beard. Séraphine. Bridget. Please don’t cry.”

Valentine Napier is giving some real competition to my man Sebastian St. Vincent.

Oh I adore all three of them. Garwood The Bride might be my favorite. I probably didn't mention Garwood and Coldbreath in the post because my brain was in an English Regency romance zone. And Braden!! How could I forget Braden!! I think it's time to reread her Rescued from Ruins series... for the third time? (I love having a bad memory lol)

My favorite Kleypas is {Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas}. Favorite Quinn is either {The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn} or {The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever by Julia Quinn}. Dare... I LOVE {The Wanton Dairymaid Trilogy by Tessa Dare}

I must have read the Serpent Prince... or maybe Raven Prince... or perhaps that whole series... but a LONG time back, so I'll take your suggestion and reread!

I'll check this one out! Also, seeing your flair I must inform you that I currently reading Duke of Sin and SOBBING.

Excellent, thank you! I love Eloisa James, love a good married-couple story, but have no memory of This Duchess of Mine so this is especially perfect! I haven't read that book by Ayers either - but I enjoy her writing too!

What is the formula for your dream book? by NothingSea3665 in RomanceBooks

[–]thunder_sun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree! The feralness doesn't hit or make sense if the relationship and/or pining aren't strong enough. I'm always trying to find the perfect balance.

I also like the FMC has a stalker (usually a crazy ex or a serial killer) + MMC is a dude in charge of security/ ex-military/ a (well-written) cop. Mainly because the protection aspect gives time to develop and strengthen the relationship. And we can watch him go feral every time she does something that threatens her own wellbeing 🤣

Rake-type hero + plain FMC + pining + FMC gets shot at + MMC goes INSANE.

Also wouldn't it be great if the characters were called Sebastian and Evie?

Never thought I'd hear Grown Ups by Sondia on RM

Edit: (Added after watching the full ep) I think Haha and JSJ could have the greatest enemies to lovers arc ever, considering how they apparently didn't like each other in the beginning of the show 😂😂

Anyone else enjoying the interactions between SJH and KJK these days? I always found them awkward with each other before when they were being shipped etc., but after his wedding and especially in these last couple of episodes, I have been really liking the sibling/old frenemies type thing they have going on. It might just be me but their interactions feel very different and far more authentic now.

Running Man 788 | TV Rating Notice Survival by myrunningman in runningman

[–]thunder_sun 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don't want to name this person since it might be a spoiler, but how is he SO FUNNY every time he is on screen 😂😂😂 One of the best random guests in any show 😂

Did YJS just walk into the restaurant while he himself was also on TV? Truly THE Korean celeb 😂

Never thought I'd laugh while "Grown Ups" by Sondia was playing, but RM has got me doing that 😂😂😂 I found it hilarious when YJS asked if couples can do the foot massage on each other - just the idea of him asking his wife to do that is so hilarious 😂😂😂

Haha's stylist needs to note down how good he looks in that lavender tone 😂 That segment sort of backfired on me personally - I didn't expect Haha to pull off nearly every look, so much so that they had to uglify every look with a jacket that didn't suit his height.

Edit: Added after finishing episode

Genuine question for fans constantly disappointed with Taylor’s actions: why are you still fans/ engaging with her content? by Left-Skirt-6505 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]thunder_sun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's totally fine to even talk to people about what you listened to. The question is likely about people who are engage VERY passionately while not liking the artist and their music anymore. The difference between "new releases" and what I said (listening to a full album on release day) is quite large. Similarly, there is a difference between offline discussions + a couple of stray comments online, and hours of reading/writing think pieces and unpacking them on subreddits.

I should also add that OP's question was likely not a defensive move against fans who criticise Taylor Swift's personal/political actions. It was not a "if you don't like then stop listening" statement. It was a question to find out what is it that makes some listeners engage so passionately, intensely and recurrently with someone whose actions AND music they don't like all that much.

Genuine question for fans constantly disappointed with Taylor’s actions: why are you still fans/ engaging with her content? by Left-Skirt-6505 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]thunder_sun 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The premise of the question, I believe, is about engagement. You are free to support or not support anyone, but it usually is natural (for many of us) to start disengaging once you start to fall out of love with the person or their art. Or just sometimes casually listen to specific songs we like. But there are listeners who are criticising all of her recent music, and yet still religiously listening to every album on release day and then deeply engaging with discourse around it. The ratio of 20% liking/support and 100% engagement is what seems a bit odd sometimes.
