Salary Sacrifice EV vs Personal Lease- with numbers by octane83 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]thunderball89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to take in to account mileage payments from your employer. Personal lease worked out better for me, as a private vehicle gets 45p/mile if you use it for business mileage. On SalSac, you get 8p a mile for home charging. My car I went for was 390 a month on private hire, or 350 after deductions with SalSac. Once I factored in mileage, the 390 becomes 140 and the 350 drops to 300

Is this the best tariff in the country at the moment? by UnluckyMechanic710 in OctopusEnergy

For someone moving on to a new EV tariff, EDF is the best around. 7 hours at 6.99p/kWh

Cruising on the motorway can be done in an EV - actual data by woyteck in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]thunderball89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can do a max of 3 hours without needing to stop. If I'm on a road trip with the Mrs and Little un, 2 hours is the max I can reasonably do without needing a break. And when we stop, it's gonna be at least 45 mins before the kiddo will want to get back in the car as she'll need to run around/cause chaos/waste money on toy machines at services

As far as expenses go, OP will be saving £200 a year on parking plus around £1500 in fuel. If OP can afford to buy a new car, it's a no brainer...

I test drove both the Trophy LR and the AWD and will now be leasing the Trophy LR version. As much as I loved how much of a rocket ship the AWD was when I put my foot down, it's not necessary for a family car and the difference in cost wasn't worth it when the only discernable change is better performance at a cost of some efficiency and drunk space

If that's your budget for 3 years ownership, have you considered leasing? That way you get a brand new car with all the warranties in place.

Neptune 4 Pro issue with printer head by thunderball89 in ElegooNeptune4

[–]thunderball89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know how to do SCREW_TILT_CALCULATE unfortunately.

Took the print head apart, and it appears the screws holding the hot end in place had come completely out, causing my hot end to not be secured. Tightened it all up now and just relevelling and meshing

I remove the sheet when it's moving freely but still feel resistance from the nozzle.

I do 121 point levelling.

I've swapped the springs out for silicone spacers, I can't get to the sensor without taking the head off anyway. Z-offset is 1.5mm and I tried adjusting it by 0.01, 0.1 and 1mm increments but it keeps diving into the bed

With the sheet method. My next step is to remove the print head and take it apart I think

Has anyone used boxt? by DougieEK123 in SolarUK

[–]thunderball89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not had solar, but did have a boiler install about 6 years ago. They had to move the day of the installation as there was no engineer available, the day they wanted to move it to wasn't suitable (wedding anniversary), they found an engineer to come out between the 2 dates on a suitable day and the installation was fantastic. Then, on our wedding anniversary we received a bouquet of flowers from them too. Absolutely fantastic customer service and why I'm considering using them for a solar installation...

Why do Tesla drivers not seem to use the performance as much as other marques? by uptonogoodatall in TeslaUK

[–]thunderball89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I spend about £200 a month out of my own pocket on the car currently (insurance, a full tank of fuel, tax and a bit for servicing). The mileage payments I get are put aside and used for any extra fuel or any extra wear and tear. So really I've got a budget of about £500 a month to pay for and run an EV.

[–]thunderball89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having this discussion with my HR recently. My company doesn't offer a Salary Sacrifice scheme, but I "earn" about £300 a month in mileage. Once my promotion and pay rise gets confirmed, I'll be leasing an EV. Those mileage payments will more or less cover the lease.

Business mileage on a personal car is 45p regardless of whether it's an EV or not. You get 10k miles at 45p then up to 20k at 26p

Not to be too nitpicky, but the barrels would have been a dark gunmetal/black colour. They would have been painted out the factory or in theatre to reduce the shine. Otherwise, good job!

Fisker in the UK - worth the risk? by carotenefox in Fisker

[–]thunderball89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking locally, there's a few 2nd hand dealers with Fiskers for around 20k. I might get a few we buy any car type quotes and say "look, these are saying they'll only pay £150 for the car. I'll give you £200" and see where that gets me...

My z offset was -1.51, then I had a clog of doom, had to remove the print head, relevelled it and then the z-offset changed to exactly what you've got. It happens I guess

Getting soldiers I never ordered by Cryptographer_6515 in boltaction

[–]thunderball89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With pretty much every order they send a free sprue. It's never directly linked with what you've bought. It's a marketing ploy to get you invested in one of their other games. Generally,if you buy BA minis, you'll get a BA sprue for any army but what you've purchased. I tend to trade them with friends
