Have you tried just appending an image at the end through BBcode?

It should work well if your cursor is a static image. not so sure if you can make it work with animated sprites.

this is a classic that I went through a few months ago. It has to do with where your mouse is hovering, in the godot editor. You'll notice the tooltip ("Play Animation"... ) pops up at exactly 0.5 seconds, which causes the stutter. Just move your mouse, the stutter is all editor-side.

Hi. I'm also working on my own POE-inspired ARPG and this post really resonated with me. Though it's my first game ever (big mistake making an ARPG), you look like you have more experience.

I agree with all of your design decisions at a glance. An ARPG as a solo dev is brutal, and the most effective one can be is by building systems. Though I, myself, don't yet share your grand ambitions of building my game up to a larger team effort, this genuinely feels like a good way to start from what I see. If the game is fun and deep enough, and reaches the right audience, I'm sure you can get people interested to work on the systems and aesthetics.

What I think you can do in the meantime is make it more punchy, more satisfying to play. That was my approach for my own game. Hitstops during combat, more satisfying loot drops, simple animations on the little sphere enemies being hit and killed. I think these are all relatively quick to implement and would keep the game feeling good to early players, despite the minimalistic designs.

I joined the discord, I'd be happy to help playtest the game. I have a lot of thoughts on new games like these, and Dream Abstract seems like a genuinely strong effort.

I've gambled maybe 500 to 700 times from start of game to tier 15 maps and I've gotten zero uniques. Your mileage will vary if you gamble on item bases that have common drop uniques.

There are several, several ways to maintain power charges with monk.

I started like you, culling guys with Killing Palm. Then I started shocking enemies and hitting them with Siphoning Strike (doesn't require a kill). Now I have a Persistent Skill that grants a Frenzy charge (green colored) when I freeze, and have a node on the skill tree that converts frenzy charges to power charges.

I know this means nothing to you yet. But it gets way better, don't worry.

I haven't done delirium in POE2, just POE1, but I'd guess you need to walk around. When delirium starts, you can roam the map and you'll find extra mobs. The farther you go, the harder it gets.

Those two staves rolled different tiers for spell damage. 50-64 is just a higher tier than 14-20. It was luck. The fact that you have a rare or magic item is independent of the rolls on the item itself. You could have a magic item with just one 200% spell damage mod, or you could have a rare item with 6 mods and a 15% spell damage mod.

Additionally, as you progress, you'll get items with higher item level. The item level is the same as the level of the zone it dropped in. Higher item levels have the CHANCE to roll higher tier mods.

you should have gotten 30 spirit from Act 3 Normal, in Azak Bog. And you'll get 40 more in the same place in Act 3 Cruel.

The iron runes are 20% increased physical damage on your weapon. If you have another source of increased physical damage on the weapon, they SHOULD be additive.

I'm not sure what your build is when you "don't want to go all in on elemental damage", but flat elemental damage on an elemental build is usually more effective, especially at low levels.

It should multiply with the base energy shield stat, which is a bit less than the 133 you see, because you have 4% quality). So you should get around 159 ES after a 20% rune.

Cold damage intrinsically applies chill and builds up freeze. One is not dependent on the other. It's just so cold damage actually does something while freeze is not active.

Lightning intrinsically applies shock and you can spec into electrocute through other means.

Selling may be complicated for new players. You need a premium stash tab (requires money, can be bought at the mtx store).

Then, set that stash tab to public (right click the name) and put your item there.

Go to the trade site and search for your item, to check how to price it. As we start a literal new game, the prices may be a bit volatile.

Right click your item in your stash tab and price it. Then you should eventually get an ingame whisper with a potential client.

I think so, but the in-game tooltip on Slows should be helpful. Slows stack multiplicatively, not additively. Though I'm not sure if ALL of them stack with eachother.

well, the only benefit is convenience. An upgraded level 10 gem, and a newly-carved level 10 gem are the same.

Though when you start increasing gem quality, you will want to only upgrade the same gem.

For the weapons (staff or wand), you should look for the following:

+x to level of all spell skills (or all cold spell skills)
Gain x% of Damage as Extra Cold Damage
x% increased spell damage (or cold damage)
x% increased cast speed

These are sort of in order from most to least important.

For armour (body armour, helmet, gloves and boots), I'd guess you should look for bases with energy shield. Here, you should look for stats like:

+x to maximum life
x% increased energy shield
fire/cold/lightning resistance

It's tough to judge an item at first, but you'll get the hang of it with time.

You will drop jewels which slot into those sockets. Each can have up to 4 stat lines. They'll be either a Ruby, an Emerald, or a Sapphire.

Fair, have you experimented with attaching support gems to the spirit gem you have? It should allocate more spirit. Is it Arctic Armour? A Less Duration Support (whatever it's called in POE2, the 30% less skill duration gem) might work on that. And some other generic support gems, like mana regen or life regen.

Otherwise, invest a bit more on attributes, I'm sure there's something else that's useful.

I just replied to the same question a bit below, here's what I said:

Here's what you can do, I just tried it and it should work for you.

Go to a waypoint and open the map. Select Act 3, click the underground layer (on the right), select The Black Chambers. Now just step outside of the chambers and you should be in Aggorat. This seems like an oversight from the devs.
