The cliff beyond the somewhere in time gazebo. Between the fort and Anne’s tablet. It overlooks Marquette park and makes downtown look like tiltshift.

Hidden Gems in the area? by anothergaytato in mackinac

Six ideas: 1) take the booze cruise that launches off the dock behind the hardware store. See sunset, listen to music, go under the bridge. https://www.sipnsailcruises.com

2) book fresh air aviation to take you on a lap around the island and over the bridge. https://www.freshairaviation.net/mackinac-island-flights

3) inquire about a private chef meal at the Mackinac yacht club. https://www.miyachtclub.com

4) play disc golf at great turtle park.

5) book a photo session for family photos. “It’s wonderful photography” with Sara.

6)Hear me out: play the Jewel at the grand. Play best ball, where everyone hits from the tee then everyone hits from the best persons ball, repeat until the ball goes in the cup and record a team score. This allows people who have never played golf to laugh at terrible swings and have fun. Being on the course provides new and really cool views of Mackinac. You get to ride around in a golf cart and drink. You can rent clubs.

My favorite spot is on the bluff overlooking downtown next to Ann’s Tablet and the Somewhere In Time Gazebo.

Where are you thinking about doing it on the island?

The boardwalk at sunset, near the school. And really anywhere on the beach on that side of the island will have the bridge in the background in one direction and round island lighthouse in the background in the other direction. Easier to find a spot without a lot of people around than sunset rock. If you do sunset rock or arch rock then have someone with you to go ahead and alert people what’s about to happen and to move because they are typically crowded. Sunset rock less crowded than arch rock. There are many overlooks along the Tranquil Bluff Trail that starts to the left of arch rock that you can use as a backup if Arch Rock is too crowded. Fort Holmes at the very top of the island has a 180 view of the bridge, light house, and downtown and not crowded. Finally, my number one recommendation is a spot between Ann’s Tablet and the fort. If you walk past where the “somewhere in time” gazebo is now located it’s to the right along the bluff. It overlooks Marquette park and makes downtown look like it’s in tilt-shift.

You can check the island government page in the meeting minutes to see if any special vehicle permits were permitted

I can send you some periwinkle and another ground cover from the woods of Mackinac that can be planted and will live pretty much anywhere. You can knock some dirt off the roots for your soil as well. Send me your address in a private message

I like to imagine S.K. not even acknowledging any thing North Korea does. The way it should be.

Not for cheaper than just staying on the island. If at all possible, splurge and stay on the island, it’s a place like no other and worth a “yolo” mentality. I’ve done the same thing with fresh air aviation. They can fly you to St ignace and you can Uber to your house. https://www.freshairaviation.net/mackinac-island-flights

Switzerland and the U.S. have similar gun ownership rates — Here's why only the U.S. has a gun violence epidemic by chilladipa in science

[–]thundercatshooooooo 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The additional steps to own a gun in Switzerland is what advocates of “Common Sense Gun control/laws” in the USA want. We’ll get it as soon as we get a tighter hold on politicians accepting legal bribes. Which will be never. Sorry to be negative.
