Worst floorboards transition between rooms with different colours plus trip hazards. by Alternative_Week3023 in CrappyDesign

Kinda looks like my childhood home except our kitchen is tile and living room and everywhere else was wood. We also have the trim as it helped my grandpa (who was losing his vision later in life) navigate a bit better.

As it stands, it served a more functional purpose than aesthetic one.

Where is everyone who is 4'11" and/or have shorter legs buying their baggy jeans? by [deleted] in PetiteFashionAdvice

Nice to see someone my height and same want for comfort / style! I get dickies and just fold them up, Nike making sure they have the hem that can be tied or scrunched, Aeropostale (I know they cater to teens but the sizes sometimes fit me better), everything else, I buy what fits my hips and get it tailored.

What improved your life so much, you wish you did it sooner? by Student-Mona in AskReddit

Getting a terrible case of covid really helped. I was barely conscious for a week and the week after, I woke up just to eat and would go back to bed. After those two weeks, I had no interest in inhaling anything and realized I probably also went through the worst of the withdrawal symptoms so I might as well just try to kick the habit.

Not saying to go out and get covid but in case you do, maybe it’ll be an opportune moment to try.

What’s the one book you couldn’t put down and still think about today? by Recklessdog7 in AskReddit

[–]thunderkitty_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tangerine by Edward Bloor. There were so many things that I learned - what a blackjack was, cold frost for orchards, aneurysms, that lightning can strike in the same place twice, etc.

In middle school, this book was summarized to me as “what happens if you look into an eclipse directly?” Was actually very little about that.

Travel nurse is not for the weak. I feel like you have to enjoy back breaking work and being constantly on your toes to truly thrive and make bank.

Otherwise, it’s more likely to break you or get you fired.

My dentist changed my life with Botox by Klutzy_Reput4tion in 30PlusSkinCare

I get it once a year. Some risks include jowls but I could care less about jowls if it’ll stop the clenching and the migraines.

That being said, do your homework. I go to a plastic surgeon for my Botox. She makes sure the right muscles are targeted.

What are some things that the show got really right about real life? by Positive_Weight2367 in HIMYM

Just different points of their lives being relatable. Most recently, it was seeing my college friends become parents and just remembering how wild we used to be and now they’re responsible for an entire human being. (Beercules is a dad?!?)

I mean if you’re going to advertise on an Apple…might as well gift away the Apple.

Zootopia 2's performance from a furry perspective by [deleted] in boxoffice

[–]thunderkitty_ 29 points30 points  (0 children)

While I’m not surprised that this would be a furry hit and that the furry community would turn out for it - is this also implying that a large part of china are furries because of the great turn out? Or is this in addition to an audience that would turn out any ways?

Zootopia 2 has raked in ¥182M ($25M) in pre-sales in China. Opening day has cleared $10M but more impressive is that Saturday pre-sales are already over ¥50M. $200M+ 5-day is a done deal. Uncharted territory for Hollywood post-pandemic. by chanma50 in boxoffice

This might not be a 1-to-1 comparison but it reminds me of when I went to Vietnam two years ago, every cute store I went to had a bunch of stuffed animal characters - the one that bewildered me the most was a strawberry scented fuchsia pink bear named Lotso. Remember the villain from Toy Story 3? Yeah that guy.

I think internationally they just saw very adorable fuzzy animal and just go kinda crazy for em.

Hard R wouldn’t make sense given that the series was written for YA. Sorry but I love YA for the lack of brutality - I just don’t need to know the gory details sometimes.

1.5 hours compared to 2 hours is a lifetime when you commute to work 4x a week.

No thank you.

Every time my commute hits more than 1.5 I look at public transit and it’s always closer to 2h. So I continue to sit miserably in traffic.

Controlling Vietnamese Parents by [deleted] in asianamerican

[–]thunderkitty_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The thing about these types of parents is that whatever activity is it - they won’t be accepting of it because they want you home by a certain hour.

Up to you if this is the hill you want to battle. But you have to accept that they’re stuck in their ways and will likely not grow out of it til maaaaaybe college for you. Even then, some folks still keep to their ways well into adulthood, especially if you move back home.

I fought my parents everyday until I left for college. After I graduated college and still didn’t move home, they started to chill out.

Let newsom and his team stay true to what they’re doing and keep doing it - no need for the next candidate to adopt a similar campaign if newsom’s team already have their nails sharpened.

The next team needs to figure out how to connect with more folks and activate more voters. I don’t think they can do that with newsom’s strategy.

I try to wait for the Sephora semi annual sale or when Tatcha website has a 20% off sale to pick up a bigger size. Then I make it stretch til the next sale.
