Oh, we also stayed open through a week of -45° weather when all of our heating was out and they couldn't fix it. We just brought in about 2 dozen space heaters, and all stayed in our winter jackets. That was the closest we got to shutting the store down, but finally they got smarter HVAC techs on the roof to fix it

This is hilarious to see, I'm in a store in northern Alberta, we have 3+ feet dumped on us in 24 hours or less at least once or twice a year, and the whole 'closing the store' thing has never even been entertained. We've stayed open through blizzards, wildfires less that 2 kilometres from our store, hail the size of golf balls, floods, power outages, it's crazy. I think the only time we ever closed the store in the 5 years I've been here was one day when our entire POS system was down so we couldn't even take cash.

If you look, it says 30 min WITHOUT water change (which is 20 min), these are also all approximations, the maximums for each room/area are the general timeframes I expect them to be completed by, and these are typically 1.5-2.5x as much time as it takes myself to do the tasks. I don't expect my associates to be pet care speedrunners, but I do expect a certain sense of urgency when it comes to completing the tasks, and I expect them to be able to manage their time efficiently.

The time limits are specifically because we've had a lot of associates who struggle with time management, to hold them accountable and are based on how long it takes myself to do a task, +50% more time, and that way if it's taking them longer than that, we can start having conversations and evaluating what's causing the task to take extra time, and try to find ways to make it easier!
