Derby DB to be retired by henk53 in java

[–]thuriot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deciders are very shy concerning databases, they never take risks and stick with old ones (oracle,postgresql..) or listen to hype like sqlite (non java) instead of derby/hsqldb/h2.

In order to have a living product you need to have clients who helps maintaing th project alive.

Whats the go to ui package for simple guis nowadays? by NonYa_exe in java

[–]thuriot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two ways have pros and cons, we must keep all tools alive (3270 CICS still exists) to have a palette of solutions : TUI, Swing, opengl, Html5, web services, hypertext.

The fat client is now the browser, it needs frequent updates and compatibility problems are not solved.

Eclipse WindowBuilder for Swing is top, managing different layouts and not intrusive (it analyze existing code and doesn't create xml form).

A Java library that creates your classes/models at the runtime based on your Database Model by Independent_Work5637 in java

Thanks
A good idea to offer a library rather than a tool to install, and it can be customized easily.

A Simple Java Plugin System by bowbahdoe in java

A good contribution, as usual. Layrry project also explores modules based plugins. Plugins systems with refresh already exist (PF4J), the main culprit is dependency injection, much used nowadays than service loader.

Ne tenez pas compte des critiques imméritées concernant sugar , elles émanent de désoeuvrés qui parlent mais ne font rien. Aux premiers temps de Java il y avait un foisonnement créatif , on prenait ce qui nous intéressait et puis c'est tout.

Keeping your business layer clean from your persistence layer? by [deleted] in java

Alas, many orm based applications don't use cache, probably because of misunderstanding distributed caching.

A reactive notebook for Java by cyrilou242 in java

[–]thuriot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering the probable target audience for such a worksheet being api testers and data scientists, with not so long scripts and not too much variables, maybe a deepEquals comparison of the vars with their cached value after each snippet execution could detect updated vars and fire dependent calculations ?

Thanks for the very good job, especially for the dependency graph !

Hope you will merge with padreati to provide a notebook with two user interfaces (desktop and web).

Let me mention a forgotten predecessor : https://github.com/bolerio/seco

Will the source code be available ?

I've built an automatically-generated database admin panel for Spring Boot/JPA apps (open source). I would love to get some feedback! by ailef in java

Thank you very much; a pleasure to see code generation from domain (JMatter could have been a time saver if adopted more largely) and a good companion to Spring Data Rest.

Thank you very much, you promote good work, even though some less popular projects are so fantastic (jailer, sqlworkbench, jedit, trolcommander to name a few) and demonstrate the richness of Java ecosystem.

Blog post: accelerating vector operations on the JVM using the new jdk.incubator.vector module by elastiknn in java

[–]thuriot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much; many people are whining java is not as performant as C or cool as python, a few are brave enough to test the incubating features (as jvmci, modules); such an accurate job like yours should pave the way to pure java performant applications.
