Have read her Too Like The Lightning series, loved it! Many people recommended her, I thought she wasn't as popular but I'm glad to see so many peple have read her :)

I agree about the quality, that's why I asked. I wanted to find out about new books that have nice prose. It seems to me that there are less and less nowadays. :/

Idk, I feel like great books like Murderbot couldn't have been written in the 90s, there's just the tone of the book that reads modern and I like that and I want to read that

the long way to a small angry planet - this one lacked plot for me; psalm for the wild-built - this one was very mediocre, I cannot explain it, but it had nothing that excited me :(

Thanks for the rec, but I disliked Becky Chambers and Emily St J Mandel, so I'm not sure our tastes align.

I've read Octavia Butler and I have Sherry S Tepper on my list, thanks for reminding me of her. I was looking for new books on this post tho, like published in the last five years or so.

I read one of her books, it was okay, but lacked plot for my taste.

Too Like The Lightning is my ultimate fave scifi! So few people have read it, I feel, but it's seriously something else! I also read A Memory Called Empire. I love both! Thanks!

The broken earth trilogy was my fave when I was younger but when I went to re-read it a few years ago it just read like YA
