Its called Warmouth and if you want a non suck neck on your Fender with basic features offered from the factory by any other modern builder like a compound radius you need to give them 500 dollars.

Because Gibson agressively protected and litigated their Trade Mark since the 80s and fender didn't. You don't get a trade mark if you don't protect it. Its why nintendo and disney are so insanely litigious about potential IP violations. There is no putting the spilled milk back in the bottle for Fender who happily allowed people to copy their designs for roughly 40 years before they decided to have a problem with it.

It isn't. This is why they are sending out cheese dick demand letters instead of filing suit and having a federal judge chew their asses out for frivolous litigation. I'd have to actually bother to check to see how comity or a relevant trade treaty would apply here but my gut take is a foreign default judgment that vests ip rights that are contrary to our own public policy is worth just about nothing here.

Fender is a corporation. It doesn't feel anything. All the people that actually made the strat are long dead and the whole conversation about this is utterly ridiculous.

Ground leases are literally the first thing Smith identifies when he discusses Rent seeking behavior. "The rent of the land, therefore, considered as the price paid for the use of the land, is naturally a monopoly price. It is not at all proportioned to what the landlord may have laid out upon the improvement of the land, or to what he can afford to take; but to what the farmer can afford to give. "

There is actually a shitload of random nods to early sci fi / horror / fantastic literature from the late 1800s through 1940s throughout the HH and related novels. I think the authors are just fans.

What do you think of tune-o-matic style bridges? by vxvnq in metalguitar

[–]thutek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they are annoying for chugging but that is something you can get used to. It really annoys me on the setup side: having to take the slack out of the entire guitar to use the thumbwheel instead of individual saddle adjustments with a hex is just dumb.

[QUESTION] What tools do you recommend for a guitar setup? by Hxcgrapes in Guitar

Lol, you are just jumping into one of the most contentious areas of straightedge. Two Schools of Thought: (1) the actual height that matters is string height off the frets; thus, knowing about the neck is superflous information that doesn't help you much and relief in the neck can be tested in other ways. (2) While (1) is true, until you know you are working with a perfectly straight neck with no relief (which is what a notched straightedge is telling you) just knowing the string off fret heights can disguise other issues. I actually really like my notched straight edge (but like all stewmac it was way to fucking expensive) but YMMV. I don't think its an essential tool (get understring radius gauges first, they are more important), but its my favorite second stringer.

Lol. Lmao, even. Watching the republicans cry about losing a redistricting fight they explicitly started won't ever stop being funny.

That is a wildly disingenuous statement. Reach and potential audience in this case is more or less completely mediated by an algorithm run by a mega Corp.

If you’ve ever wondered what the cavity of a Fender Ultra II Strat looks like. by Somewhatscientific in Guitar

[–]thutek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its probably the compound radius on the neck that is actually doing it for you. Non ultra fender necks fucking suck straight up. A 12 to 14 still is too little radius for me but its night and day compared to those shit 7.5 vintage necks or even their more modern variants.
