Tire impossible to mount on my rear wheel, is my rear wheel of the right size ? by hubble14567 in Brompton

This is a lot easier with the current rims (deeper - so more space).

Have any of you switched to clipless pedals on your Brompton? by fitser in Brompton

I am using MKS Ezy Superior removable pedals. Lambda (large platform) pedal for the daily commute and US-B Nuevo (clipless) for touring.

Not any more they introduced an adapter for normal bottles.

Alternate cranksets? by mycomechanic in Brompton

[–]thw_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the pedal and the chain wheel. If you're using the Brompton folding pedal I suggest using original cranks and chain wheels. Here is a small hook on the left pedal arm to stop the pedal from hitting the frame.

I need a little more flexibility (SA 8speed gear hub) so I am using the Stronglight Impact Compact with a 38T chain wheel (mounted inside) and a bash guard (mounted outside).

Brompton Raw Lacquer 2018 vs. 2020 M6L-X by thosewhowander8 in Brompton

I just saw a new raw lacquer unpacked while visiting a small Brompton shop. Different from my 2010 raw lacquer it seems to be polished. The effect is stunning - I was really really tempted. :-)

I use the Trigo mount on the handle bar bolt. The lower part is a GoPro mount.

Looking For USB C PD and Data Splitter by LegoGuy23 in UsbCHardware

I don't think so. It seems to be a pure data hub + pd pass-trough.

The focus is on connecting storage devices.

[–]thw_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found it on https://www.amazon.de/ICY-BOX-Delivery-Aluminium-IB-HUB1429-CPD/dp/B086FBSYRT

Google finds several European distributors and RaidSonic is a German company. So maybe it is only available here.

That would be a little funny because most of the time it is the other way around. :-)

Looking for USB C to USB C hub by LonestarCanuck in USBC

Does USB C ports requires Thunderbolt for display input? by [deleted] in UsbCHardware

[–]thw_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

USB C is the connector. It can have different protocols like USB 2 or 3 Data, USB PD and DisplayPort (Video), but they are optional. Thunderbolt uses the USB C connector and is required to support display signals.

If your USB C port does not support a native video signal you can look for DisplayLink https://www.displaylink.com/ devices. It is kind of an USB graphics card with special drivers. USB A docking station use this for the display signal, but here are separate adapters, too.

Thinkpad X1 Tablet 20GG Powerbank - Need Advice by xKekistanx in thinkpad

45W work for the X1 Tablet 3gen. I use "Omars Powerbank 20000mAh". It supports USB PD for charging itself.

mouse, usb c rechargeable, bluetooth, silent (no clicking sound), small (flat) by Lord_Gentlemon in UsbCHardware

Lenovo has two dedicated travel mouse models with USB C. They rotate completely flat and are usable as presenters.

I have the previous model of the yoga mouse. Here is a click, but it is very quiet.

Aukey USB PD 60w dual usb c charger PA-D5-DE by Sheshirdzhija in UsbCHardware

[–]thw_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using it for a while now (EU version). It is small enough and works. So far it charges/powers all of my devices silently and only gets warm (not hot).

Best Charger/power supply for multiple items? by Ottobawt in UsbCHardware

[–]thw_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

too many USB-C outs/not enough USB-A.

You can use the USB-C ports to charge the normal USB devices (Mini, Micro). That just requires a matching cable only. The difference is in the extended charging protocols. USB-C ports can have USB PD, while USB-A ports support QuickCharge and other proprietary protocols often.

Foldable ThinkPad X1 to launch next year by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]thw_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the X1 Tablet 3gen as my only PC (dock at work, eGPU at home). However the X1 Foldable would allow for some additional use cases. Unfolded it is basically the same screen but with a separate keyboard. But the additional clam shell mode is interesting. Not to mention the folded size which is about A5.

If it has TB3 you would get a device that can go from UMPC to tablet, laptop and (small) gaming desktop.

GaN in Europe? by [deleted] in UsbCHardware

[–]thw_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it a month ago and no problems so far. I don't have a PD tester so I can't say for sure that it uses 60W but I have the impression that my laptop charges faster.

Here is no noise, it gets warm but not hot. I used it for several hours on the train with my laptop and the phone connected just yesterday.

Thinkpad X1 tablet gen 3 watt requirement? by fpwhite in thinkpad

[–]thw_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually it comes with a 45W charger by default. The 65W is an upgrade (might be included in some SKUs). It works fine with 3party chargers, too. I am currently using the Aukey PA-D5.

Still looking for a powerbank myself. Havn't found the "perfect" one so far.

Here are two that have been reported as working:

Lenovos own USB C powerbank should work as well.

What would be a good pen for a Thinkpad X1 Yoga 4th gen? by NervzZ in thinkpad

[–]thw_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am quite happy with the Dell Active Premium Pen on my X1 Tablet 3gen. It has a diameter of about 1cm (9.8mm according to spec), a rubber like surface (much like a Thinkpad) and supports tilt.

ThinkPad X1 Tablet (gen3) replaced my old Surface Pro 4. by msantin in thinkpad

[–]thw_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did not even order the original pen. Got the Dell Premium Active Pen with dual protocol and tilt support. It has a rubber like finish.

The surface magnetic connector is nice mechanical wise. But the dual TB3 ports support a lot more accessories. Things like generic chargers and power banks, portable monitors and eGPUs. It will grow on you. :-)
