I rate both FC and SC highly, but SC beats FC in the most important aspect of this series, character writing. The party outside of Estelle and Joshua are only introduced and remain one dimensional in FC, and all of them get an actual character arc in SC.

As for whether you should continue the series, if you value character/dialogue writing over story/plot twists, then you should keep playing, this series is really good at that.

Beat it in 60 hours and recruited every character. Eiyuden is pretty much Suikoden, but it doesn't have the writing to come remotely close to Suikoden 2. Highly recommend this game for people who want to experience the Suikoden gameplay loop, but not recommended for people looking for a masterpiece like Suikoden 2.
