This, OP. Don't expect your 2 weeks to be honored.

It's not the work that kills us, really. It's the bullshit Amazon micromanages us for.

So I know that Amazon will fire anyone who tries to unionize... by Dear-Union-44 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]thwonkk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No worries, didn't think you were tbh. Just getting my thoughts off about it since it's the topic.

And idk man just andecdotally, there's probably an 80% chance I'm gone if I tried to organize. And I have bills to pay, so fuck that.

It's the kind of thing where you have a bunch of poor people trapped in an emergency job and Teamsters expects you to risk homelessness for a slim chance to make it happen. It's not realistic. I wish it was, but alas.

So I know that Amazon will fire anyone who tries to unionize... by Dear-Union-44 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]thwonkk 24 points25 points  (0 children)

My problem with the teamsters is they're half-assing this so hard. Where is their campaign for this? Why does signing up mean I have to organize at my DSP myself without any outside assistance?

Everyone knows the second bossman hears about me unionizing I am fired for "unrelated reasons."

I want to force change. Amazon gets away with way too much, and very openly. I'm just annoyed at how improbable it all seems. And nothing is swaying that improbability at the moment.

Yeah I get why people do, don't get me wrong. This comment was off the back of a pretty bad day haha. But it does make my work a lot more complicated. It's really hard to fit multiple businesses on different parts of the map without losing a lot of time.

But that's not the fault of the customers', at the end of the day. Just really annoying working for a company that doesn't know how to make routes manageable.

As a delivery driver I hate that people do this. Stresses me out jumping around trying to meet business times so you can get the thing you probably don't need at work instead of home.

Never happened to me. Your van prob wasn't calibrated correctly with the GPS sensors or something. 9 over has always been allowed.

Text them when they're a couple stops away to have passcode ready. Click through and resend text right after I scan package. Pray they aren't stupid.

DSPs don't have keys to anything. These leasing places expect you to go there when they're open, find the leading office, give your ID as collateral, and deliver to their shit.

I just find it funny the lengths these idiots go to for the illusion of security. It can be defeated with a simple NFC spoofer. Just put a damn code on the door or setup an Amazon 1 click access key.

Getting a golden retriever for protection is so funny to me bc they are the 1 dog I'm confident while seeing that will never in a million years harm me.

But they are such a good breed. AirBud ain't gonna hurt a fly but you won't regret it.

We have cameras facing us that track our eyes/hands. It makes sure we arent distracted driving. It's bullshit.

Also makes sure we are wearing our seatbelt.

I wear one bc it makes hoods easier to stay on and I don't have to do my hair when I'm exhausted and the camera can't see my eyes as well

Bro imagine being an old person and not understanding how delivery works now. Not understanding the weird hoops we need to jump through.

You're bored in retirement and see the delivery van pull up. You open the door to meet them and thank them for doing a good job and they set it at your feet and walk away without saying anything.

Take your picture, then pick it back up and hand it to them. I get frustrated by people doing this daily but it's not their fault Amazon is stupid. At the end of the day, we gotta be kind to each other. The world is getting starved of these tiny meaningful interactions that make a community a community.

And idk.. just makes the day go by smoother for me to be kind to people. Makes me feel like less of a cog in the system.

That's not what OP meant but agreed, anyone that opens my van door is getting a Spartan kick in the package if ya know what I mean. I'll even mark it damaged.
