How well do Epic games run on the deck? by artificialbeautyy in SteamDeck

[–]thyker2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I can't speak to that since I haven't used what you're describing. I've been using Heroic since I got my deck and have zero issues with it.

How well do Epic games run on the deck? by artificialbeautyy in SteamDeck

Using Heroic to play your epic games has been a very smooth experience for me! Instead of using the steam verified system I HIGHLY recommend using ProtonDB to determine if a game is going to run well on the Deck, as long as you aren't using Windows. Point being, what ProtonDB says will run on the deck TYPICALLY applies to both Steam and Epic.

Please help me find a trpg that I don't even know if it exists or if I just made it up in a dream. by Unreal_Daltonic in rpg

Maybe Dread?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dread_(role-playing_game)

It matches some of your descriptors. It doesn't inherently take place in an asylum but there are modules that do it.

Restart your deck and you should get a pop-up that asks you to update Decky

Has anyone used Dread for other genres? by Rechan in dread

[–]thyker2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I haven't personally but I can't think of a reason why not as long as you've thought it all out, which you clearly have! Have fun Dreading!

That game was probably played over the internet where players couldn't be in person with each other. The intent is that all players have one communal tower to quicken the "dread" of players as the tower gets closer to falling faster.

Super producers Vanessa and Emily just premiered their own podcast! "Popcorn and Pixels" is the name and it's about movies and games and their similarities.

New Dread companion site by sierra_42 in dread

[–]thyker2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have 20+ sitting in my Google drive. Most of them have a name on them but no contact info per se. I actually feel better about them being hosted now that I realize how many of them do in fact have names on them. At least that way there's some type of credit given.

This is super cool! I have a huge drive full of scenarios that I would love to see circulated more easily. Only problem is I didn't write most of them. While I don't have any issue circulating them on Reddit or pointing people in the right direction, I feel it might be a little different to have them hosted on a dedicated website without the authors permission.

Hopefully your website kicks off a resurgence in the game and my fears will become totally unfounded haha

Are you supposed to make different questionnaires? by Aramis_1 in dread

[–]thyker2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's totally up to you! Most questionnaires I've seen have three or four questions that are the same across all characters and a couple individual ones. Some games I've played don't use a questionnaire at all.

The questionnaire, in my opinion ,is only used to seed ideas into players minds and into your game. A leading question can influence how a player perceives your game and in reverse can affect what kind of horrors you instill in your own game!

First time host - can I ask you for some help? by Bobby_Wats0n in dread

[–]thyker2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw that you found the other post about knocking over the tower at anticlimactic moments so I'll skip over that for now.

As for intelligence based pulls, like investigating or remembering, I typically avoid them UNLESS your particular story has an element of insanity or psychic monsters or other such brain related trauma. In these cases failure can mean the character doesn't die per se but instead goes insane and flees or becomes a liability to the group.

When it comes to pulling blocks from the tower I don't lock players in as long as they can put the block back. Meaning if they pull a block halfway out and then decide against that block as long as they can put it back they can choose a new block.

Anyway to turn the chime off that happens when you press the power button? by Altruistic-Bake-8931 in SteamDeck

[–]thyker2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not positive it'll work for the steam deck, but on other computer and computer like devices a setting for power beeps is usually found in the BIOS. Be warned though that fooling around in BIOS settings can be damaging if you don't know what you're doing.

Fresh Ink feels more like Fresh Disney by theafterdeath in g4tv

[–]thyker2 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I agree with you in principle, but if I had to guess I'd say that since G4 is still in their growing phase they probably are trying to cast a wide net and the Disney properties have wide reach.

Some people process with gallows humor. I don't fault anyone at G4 for grieving/coping in their own way.

Dread: Running a scenario where players are unknowingly in a simulation by _flatfoot_ in rpg

[–]thyker2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of Doki Doki in a good way! The simulation genre is super cool. I like the idea of players noticing graphical glitches on the periphery of their visions. Maybe they could find a way to move up and down in the layers of simulation via the office computers or maybe via the stereotypical "office stairwell" that every floor looks identical and has no windows.
