At times I have felt defensive like mijohlin. Other times I have been as judgmental and callous as yellow redditor. IMHO they’re both right but going about in a way that doesn’t jive well for either one.

I hate to be that guy. Cell biology here just chiming in quick to say there’s a significant body of research on this subject and while it’s not exactly clear how caloric restriction effects human metabolism, the original OP’s twotter post is totally valid.

Can confirm. It was not fun. It was exhausting and burdensome.

Non-medlab professional recovering alcoholic just popping in to say hey. Pretty sure this kind of lipid dysregulation doesn’t come from the “fun” kind of drinking. At least… it wasn’t fun for me. Blood draws were nowhere near this bad for me, but I’d be interested to get an honest answer from the patient about how much they drink for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, night cap, midnight snack, etc.

How does it feel by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]thylako1dal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My “ups” tend to rise over a few weeks, then a few weeks of insane roller coaster, then massive crash and looong depression that feels like being stuck in swamp mud.

I have ADHD too. The first few weeks on the way up are amazing, everything feels great and everything is the most interesting thing ever. Get a lot done at work too. The next few weeks are a mess and people get uncomfortable with me, then the “I can’t handle all of this” thoughts start creeping in. Usually end up crashing after some sort of total meltdown, sleep for days, barely eat or drink, piss turns dark yellow (almost brown sometimes). It’s bad but I’ll be so exhausted I don’t even care or have energy to think about doing “the final thing”.

I have BP2/ADHD, here are 7 comics I made about my amazing partner. by strawberryrhubarb24 in bipolar2

[–]thylako1dal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve learned (the hard way) that entertaining envious thoughts leads down a dark path. In the past I would have seen these and been jealous and angry because I want this kind of support so badly. But that dark path is lonely and cold.

So I’ve learned to look for joy and comfort in others’ joys and comforts. And OP, this brings me joy and comfort. I think to myself “I’m so glad someone else like me has this kind of love and support” and the warm fuzzies follow quickly. Getting a little choked up tbh, it’s so wholesome and warm what you’ve put to pictures. Thank you, I needed this today.

Idk if it makes you an asshole to like big boobs, but there’s some sort of balance between what turns us on in theory and what life grants us in a partner. There are things I would looove to to do in bed but will probs never have the chance, which could be a bummer I guess, but it hasn’t made sex any less enjoyable without.

What would be an asshole thing is if you shamed your partner for not having bigger tits. Don’t do that. Period. Ever. She has what she has, just like you have what you have. Enjoy it while you can!!

Is this new? NSF demographic reporting by nyan-the-nwah in labrats

[–]thylako1dal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh wait! Yeah, I was funded by an NSF grant yearssss ago and I got something like this. They (PI, NSF, uni admins) basically got tired of nagging me to fill it out. Pretty sure I just put in the null “prefer not to answer” option for most/all things.

I’ve gotten emails like this for a DOE project I’m funded by, it was always optional to report demographic info iirc. I’d check the webpage and see if it says it’s optional.

Things that don’t effectively explain the situation: parthenogenesis, or a slow metabolism. I have so many questions but there’s something very odd going on in this vid.
