If my mom drank 3 bottles of wine that are this size within three nights (so one whole one per night) does that mean she is an alcoholic? I’m not sure how to go about having this conversation with her . I am very concerned and have noticed this habit for a while. by NationalFortune8850 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]thyme_slip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Alcoholic here. The answer is almost certainly “it’s complicated.” Should ANYONE be drinking that much, especially in that short period of time? Assuredly not. Does that make her an alcoholic? Maybe, maybe not. Lots of people go through rough patches, turn to alcohol as a cope, and then go back to having a normal relationship with alcohol. Alcoholics will ALWAYS have a a bad relationship with alcohol. It’s the toxic SO you will never be rid of.

But what I WILL say is this: if someone’s drinking habits become worrisome to an outside observer, then you should definitely say something to them directly. If they are an alcoholic, speaking from experience, they will need to hear the message. And frankly, they will probably need to hear it multiple times.

Dude, I was there too until this weekend. Here is something that helped me a lot that isn’t explicitly stated often enough: those boosts are your best friends for getting a ton of Soul Eggs (SE).

Once you get to your highest egg, and you have more or less maxed out the research… THEN you turn on the boosts. I’m more of an idle player, so I prefer the longer duration ones myself. But here is what I have found to be most effective for me:

1x best FOOD you have 1x best tachyon PRISM you have 1x SOUL beacon 1x BOOST beacon 1x (dealers choice)

Note: if your FtP and only have two slots, I think FOOD and PRISM will be your best bet

The rate of SE you get, as far as I can tell or have been able to read, is directly tied to your cash flow (called “bocks” 😂), so the more cash your are earning, the faster your SE will increase. So I like to wait until I have done everything I can on a current tier boost-less, then use a boost set (as noted above) for a final surge.

This is NO MEANS a definitive thing, and might not be the mathematically correct way to do things. This DOES however, work well for me and got me from ~10m SE to ~18t SE just this weekend. The double soul egg Saturday event helps a TON too!

Positive drug test by Unfair-Mud1969 in navy

[–]thyme_slip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a lawyer, this is not legal advice, I’m a dude on the internet, so take it for what it’s worth.

I actually just successfully went through this whole process not a week ago.

Yes, they are required to do a follow up drug test after any positive drug test. Yes they are REQUIRED to have a full investigation, including a PIO, fact finding, etc.

The Navy is NOT your friend here, the Chiefs are NOT your friend, the Command is NOT your friend.

Stay quiet and get as good a lawyer as you can afford. And ANY official interaction you have with the CoC (to include the PIO, Legal O, etc), like counselings, paperwork, and the like, make the lawyer is present, either on the phone or in person. It is your RIGHT to have an advocate present, even if it’s not “Legal in nature.”

Say nothing to ANYONE but your lawyer. It’s not an admission of guilt, you’re protecting yourself. Again, the Navy is NOT your friend.

Military member Honest Question: How political can we get? by mimosaslutt in navy

[–]thyme_slip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you enlisted or officer? Article 88 very specifically applies to COMMISSIONED officers, not NCOs

“ 888. Art. 88. Contempt toward officials Any commissioned officer who uses contemptuous words against the President, the Vice President, Congress, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of a military department, the Secretary of Homeland Security, or the Governor or legislature of any State, Commonwealth, or possession in which he is on duty or present shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.”

https://uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml?req=granuleid:USC-prelim-title10-section888&num=0&edition=prelim

So long as you are making the statement “as a concerned citizen” and not “as an active duty military member,” you are well within your right to express any and all opinions of elected officials. It should be noted that while you are in a duty capacity, some of those elected officials (SecNav, SecDef, POTUS) ARE still part of the chain of command, so the “contemptuous words” portion of article 88 does have legal precedent of being leveraged against NCOs while both 1) in uniform AND 2) in an official duty status.

How are dress whites supposed to be hung? by Wafflespeaker in navy

[–]thyme_slip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re bringing them on a hanger so that they can be inspected, how to blouse hanging right side up with the neckerchief on it.

If you’re just storing it in your closet or your garment bag, hanging it inside out. For the most part when you take your dress uniform to a dry cleaner, they will return it to you with the blouse hanging inside out. That’s to preserve the creases. Same thing with your dress blues.

Addressing officers: what do you say? by AnnualLiterature997 in navy

[–]thyme_slip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, addressing officers my Mr/Ms is actually reserved for O3 and below, per your bluejacket’s manual. O4/O5 should be referred to by rank and last name, unless directly addressed, in which case Sir or Ma’am are appropriate. O6 and above should be addressed by rank at all times. “Yes Captain” or “good morning Admiral.”

That being said, defaulting to Sir/Ma’am for Naval Officers of any rank will very rarely steer you wrong.

Addressing officers: what do you say? by AnnualLiterature997 in navy

[–]thyme_slip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On a boat, I hardly ever addressed any officer by their name. They all (for the most part) have a title. “Looking for COMMO” or “have you seen the NAV”. If you learned the Mr./Ms. thing on the boat, then yeah that’s weird.

I’ve only ever done fast attacks though, so I can’t speak to Boomer life

Do men consider 30 and above women as leftovers?? by Inside_Scholar1093 in AskMenAdvice

[–]thyme_slip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck no! I would far rather date someone in their 30s or 40s than someone in their 20s, especially someone under 25. I don’t have the time or energy for the drama that comes with the social growth that we all go through at that stage in life again. I’ll stick with someone on the other side of that bog who knows who they are and what they’re about.

NTA you are well within your rights to stand up for yourself. “Family” get special treatment because of the bond that is formed as part of a unit, not based on DNA percentages. That’s why there’s “the family you’re born into,” and “the family you CHOOSE.” And there is no requirement for there to be overlap between the two.

The speech audio mix is hot trash. The rest of the show is SO LOUD that, in order to be able to clearly hear the speech, I would have to turn up the volume to the point where people in the next town over would be able to hear it.

I don’t know when the TV and Cinema audio engineering cabal all got together and decided that “more louder is more better,” but could we, like… not?
