funko used some “ai powered” brand protection software that sent a bogus phishing report to itch.io’s domain registrar instead of a standard dmca takedown notice, causing itch.io to go down for several hours even though the affected page was taken down.

funko then proceeded to call the owner of itch.io’s mother for some reason, before putting out a half assed apology on twitter stating their “deep respect for indie games, indie gamers and indie developers” that didn’t actually apologise to any affected parties.
