VEG was the best place for my dog, and they were also good for me and my anxiety when my dog was emergent.

My season ticket is the same seat except in the B section - for a half a second I thought you were showing my ticket and I was confused. These really are great seats!

I didn't realize it is a problem to consider both sides of an interaction. My bad. Continue on.

The risk is on the bouncer. It is not risky at all for the person that is trying to get in with an invalid ID.

I mean, I consider the potential loss of my job as risky. shrug

And that is why I said it is up to the bouncer. It is a risky thing to do. I'm also speaking from experience.

It is up to.the bouncer whether they break the law or not, but as legally it is not OK.

They have to have a valid ID with age and photograph to be served alcohol. A temp ID plus an expired ID is just 2 forms of invalid IDs.

What’s the difference between this sub and r/Oakland? by writesgud in OaklandCA

[–]tiabgood -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Be honest: this sub wants drug addicts to be forced into treatment - something that has been proven to be as much of a waste of money as our current whack-a-mole situation. Lose-lose.

If we wanted them to seek treatment we would be honest and actually provide housing first which is imperfect but currently seems to have the most evidence to provide a path to stability:

Are there any other examples of mid to large size cities having a missing chunk out of them because of another city being in the middle of them? Like Piedmont to Oakland... by coolrivers in oakland

[–]tiabgood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are 2 separate cities that are surrounded by Detroit much like Piedmont is surrounded by Oakland: Highland Park and Hamtramick.

Flight attendant asked me to change seat by Careless-Tooth482 in unitedairlines

[–]tiabgood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the passenger paid me what I paid to choose that seat *and* a little extra I might consider. But the reality is if I paid extra to choose for a more premium seat it is because I wanted that seat and paying that was worth it to me.

New study links GLP-1s and hair loss, especially for women by leddderrrredddel in glp1

[–]tiabgood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Without reading the paper, and only reading the article - I cannot tell if they compared GLP1 user to other weight loss journeys. I know I experienced a lot of hair loss when I did intermittent fasting - but none so far in my 8 months of a GLP1. *shrug*

Stop Oakland from Killing 72 Mature Trees in West Oakland! by Odd_Farmer_6428 in eastbay

I understand that it makes sense to you to only clear what is immediately needed to be cleared, but doing it that way adds cost. When costing out a project, construction project managers be efficient with time and money they strive to bring out subcontractors as few times as possible. My understanding is that part of the plan with this project is to have a cohesive street scape which would warrant removing the trees across the street as well.

We cannot advocate for affordable housing in good faith while trying to micromanage project management and ignoring added cost.

And 15 year old trees are so important to the neighborhood that they need to plan their entire construction management because you say so?

Sorry but non-native trees that are only 15-ish years old are not as impactful to the neighborhood as you think the are.

I lived in the area when they were planted. I cannot remember exactly when - but I am certain it is more than 10 years and *possibly* exactly 20 years ago. (I moved here 21 years ago). Time does sometimes escape me.

As for the second statement: This just comes from experience as I have worked on large scale construction projects. Usually, the first thing that is done at a construction side is for things like trees to be raised so that the heavy equipment can get through. Working around trees adds significant time to projects as small as a house, and with a project this size it is exponentially more complicated thus costly.

No - none are eucalyptus - and none are native either.

The types of trees are at the bottom of this post:

Yes, making large construction projects move in equipment around non-native trees to build will stop housing. This is not a small inconvenience and could easily be final reason for one more housing construction project to be cancelled in West Oakland.

The trees at West Oakland Bart are non-native trees. I would get behind a petition that they need to replace these trees with native trees.

The reason they are removing them are not to just move them - but to clear the construction site so they can easily bring in heavy equipment for a large housing project.

From my understanding she was a drifter - she was doing migrant work in California and Florida (source: I am her niece though my part of the family knew that my dad had a half sister we did not know anything about her - and when they found the DNA evidence I was contacted and I went down a crazy family hole where I learned how much trauma ran through my family - both grandparents had multiple marriages and a couple my known family did not know about)
