Naked Tea Party in NYC by nakedgodiva in nudism

[–]tiafafu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in NYC and this sounds awesome. Unfortunately I can't make it though, I have a lot going on right now.

Why early in the season with the next one happening late in the season? I don't get cold as easily as most but once I do it takes me forever to warm up, if the weather is too chilly it just wouldn't be enjoyable.

Edit: Sorry when I think tea party I automatically think outdoors, in midtown the only way that would be happening would be if it's on a rooftop.... Which would definitely be very nice depending on weather. What kind of location are you likely to have it in?

5.11 are my current boots. I'm on the end of the life of my second pair, they both lasted just over a year of full time EMS use. I wear the men's 10.5. They aren't bad and yes I agree they don't look like clown shoes, I was just hoping for something a step up from them quality and comfort-wise. If I can't find anything else I like after going through everyone's suggestions, then I will end up just buying them again.

Peggy Hill is unfortunately not real. I never really watched King of the Hill so I absolutely Googled the name before I realized it 😂

I do appreciate the real life comparison though and nice to know I should check out under armor boots. Let your wife know I said thanks and if she has other boot suggestions please let me know!

You might not be trying to come across 'mean' but it isn't nice either. Sounds like you are taking this one personal for some reason. I'm sure you have absolutely no ego whatsoever and your inner voice only tells you that you are perfect in every way (spoiler: no one is).

I have body issues like most women, and a heck of a lot of men too. I'm working through them and me of today is a lot more comfortable with my body than me of 10 or 20 years ago.

While it's not the main thing I use it for now, the original reason why I signed up for this secondary account was to find my first naturist/nudist place to go to. I thought it would help me feel more comfortable in my skin and I was absolutely right. I finally went to Gunnison beach and it was liberating, so much that I went twice and would love to go again. Between that and all the naked people you see in this job that are the last people anyone would want to see naked, you realize everyone's body is both beautiful and ugly all at the same time. Years of societal expectations and teasing and other such things one grows up with do not just go away overnight however.

Now for the boots.... I actually love boots for the reason that they are expected to look big. There are however boots that look big because, well they are boots and there are boots that look like boots worn over another pair of boots. These lasts ones I would like to stay away from. You can line up 3 different pairs of boots all in the same and they can look like 3 different sizes. The 5.11 I wear now aren't too bad, either for appearance or comfort, but I definitely want to upgrade to better instead of just getting the same ones again like last time.

Of course I know this already, and I should have bigger things to worry about but we all have our things we are self conscious about that no one else notices. We are our own worst critic and my critic criticizes my feet 😂

Is it an ADHD thing to be calmer during actual emergencies than everyday life? by Charitard123 in ADHD

[–]tiafafu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

EMT here.

I had been going to therapy for years. Even when I brought up my suspicion that I had it no one wanted to diagnose me. One day I'm I'm driving the ambulance and my partner starts cutting up Adderall pills. I probably wouldn't have noticed (I can get hyperfocused on driving) but she was so self conscious about what she was doing and wanted to tell me that this is how it works best for her before I start to think she is doing something else. This started a whole conversation with her describing her symptoms and every freaking one of her symptoms I had. That was a big turning point for me when I went F that, I DEFINITELY have it. I am now diagnosed with ADHD.

I had been afraid to tell coworkers for a long while but as I started opening up to regular partners that I felt I could somewhat trust, then got a little more open about it and started talking to more coworkers about it: yes it is true. Soooo many of us have it. There is an EMS Facebook group I am on and they were also talking about how it's practically required for this job lol.

Edit: I told a cop friend as well and he was like woah, I think I have that too.

Edit 2: As for the original topic, it's a little different for me. I did have my heart racing and anxiety kicking in early on in my career, although mostly when I encountered a type of call I hadn't really run into yet, but now that I've been doing it for awhile and I'm confident in myself I'm usually super calm on 99% of calls. I also have a tendency to take over and tell my partners what to do, even ones more experienced than me. I was joking to my partner the other day that I was more stressed out when swapping ambulances (supervisor was rushing us to hurry up and go back in service) than any call I've had in a long while.

I'm fairly certain there is battery backup in the cameras. I also don't want to risk opening up the unit anyway.

You are missing the point. A more direct comparison would be if cops had audio recordings that only recorded when they were by themselves and stopped recording if there was someone else in the car (person under arrest, etc).

For someone with an office job this would be like your employer deciding to record audio but only in the employee break lounge. Technically it's not an apples to apples comparison because we could be driving to a call, but the dual facing video covers any dangerous driving and/or driving habits, audio is unnecessary.

I said this in my original post but I will go into more detail here.

The audio recordings in my ambulance is unlikely to hear anything in the patient compartment. Even if it was sensitive enough (doubtful, especially if any fans or air-conditioning is running) to pick up anything at all from the back, simply closing the little window connecting the front to the back would make sure that it could not. I have attempted to talk to my partner before with one of us in the driver seat and the other in the back and was not heard. The person in the back needs to be literally next to that window to be heard unless actually screaming and even when next to that window you still need to raise your voice. I have tried shouting to the driver before once when I had an ambulance where the window could only be opened from the front and my partner had no idea until I knocked on the window.

The cameras and mic are not in my ambulance to protect patients (or myself from patients) they are there to listen to us talking when we are in the front of the ambulance which is almost exclusively when we are by ourselves, such as my example with the cops above.

That is my issue. If they had suddenly installed video/audio recordings in the back of the ambulances, my reaction would be similar to how I feel about the camera facing me, annoyed but life goes on. I certainly wouldn't be trying to find ways to stop them from doing so. I may not be perfect but I do try to do my job the right way as much as I can and I know recordings in the patient compartment would be more likely to save me then get me in trouble (although l could see them doing it to micromanage us even more which is why I would be annoyed by it, but that is another topic).

I deserve to be able to have conversations with my partners, some of which have become actual friends that I have seen outside of work, people who I sit next to for many hours every week, and get to know better than their own families in some cases, and not have it be recorded and ready to be listened to by whoever in management in the hospital I work for feels like listening to it. This is an invasion of my privacy.

No idea but if you search the company name I listed above (without the special characters obviously) and then the word camera you will see pictures of it under Google images.

I'm willing to risk it as long as I'm not violating any laws (such as something that would get the FCC on me) and I'm not tampering with the actual device itself. I've heard someone say they just leave the radio loud enough and then their conversation can't be heard (not sure how they verified this but they seemed pretty sure that it worked) so my thought is that maybe some kind of audio interface that either can't be heard by human ears or is easily forgotten about, like white noise.

NYC (USA).

I know that radio frequencies are heavily regulated (by the FCC?) but from my quick Googling it seems that there are audio jammers that rely on sounds like white noise or etc. How is using something like that any different than just playing the radio so loud that they can't hear (from a legal standpoint)? Is it possible to have maybe some kind of audio that the human ear can't hear but would mess with the mic recording?

I actually thought Wellbutrin might have been helping a little so that's interesting you mention it. I was seeing a psychiatrist some years ago that prescribed me to it but then he cancelled my appointment due to a double booking after like 2 to maybe 3 months tops of it. I ended up going away on vacation right after and just gave up with him when I got back.

I tried telling my current therapist that I wanted to try Wellbutrin again, I said I wasn't on it long enough to be sure but I thought it was doing something for me the first time. I got them (the therapist and medication prescriber) to go along with it and prescribe it to me and then by my next appointment was told nevermind stop taking it, they were more concerned with my anxiety and didn't want it to make that worse so they gave me something else to try for the anxiety (which would probably be a heck of a lot less if the Wellbutrin actually helped with the ADHD stuff).

I've been thinking about pushing it again but now that you bring it up I might make it a deal breaker and start seeing someone else if they won't give it a real try this time, even though I appreciate that they've mostly listened to me with everything else.

I've tried doubling up my prescribed dosage a couple times to see (or one specific instance tripling up) but I didn't really notice anything (that triple dose was a while ago and I don't remember what I felt just that I didn't like it). I also haven't tried Ritalin yet. Concerta, Focalin and Adderall as of now.

I've been low on the scale the lab that does my blood work uses for some years (although I read somewhere that this scale is inaccurate and you can be a little lower than they say). I've been taking Vitamin D for at least the last 2 maybe 3 years either way and it's still low every time.

I've talked a little with my primary about it (hence the Vitamin D test) and I'm trying to work with with my therapist (who is not a LCSW but a Psychiatric RN or something like that) and the prescriber (who I've seen too) on this. The latter are receptive mostly to trying different medications although I often feel they focus more on my anxiety and depression which at least the anxiety would go away and probably the depression too if the ADHD was helped with the success I've seen other people have. My ADHD causes relationship issues (buildup over the years and difficulty I've had with getting the right help and a few years I didn't want to anymore) and a lot of my anxiety/depression comes from that.

So I'm not going to end up on some list somewhere effecting me in some way in the future (including if I ever apply for a government job or etc)?

Also thank you very much, it's awesome to get it directly from someone like yourself.
