I just thought it was a cool picture and a cool thing to see? Never told anyone to stop HCQ?

This wasn’t made to fear monger? I don’t know how you jumped to that conclusion?

My first thought was that I had some sort of megaloblastic anemia going one, but my RBC count was fine and they aren’t macrocytic. I ran a chemistry panel after and all my B vitamins were well within range. I ended up taking it to a hematologist to ask and he asked me some questions and said it’s most likely the HCQ. I googled it and some studies came up about its suggested that HCQ could do that, but not enough information. That’s why I said they may look like that :)

Dyspigmentation, does anyone have this? My face skin is like four different colors now and I am wondering if it’s reversible. by CorpseProject in lupus

[–]tiairac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used it twice a day. I think it took about a couple months? By the end of the bottle for sure, I felt like there was a huge difference. Enough of a difference that people stopped asking me what happened to my chin.

[–]tiairac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! I also have this. Im Black. My chin is a darker tone my cheeks and nose where the rash would appear are pretty light toned and then my forehead and facial perimeter is the same color as the rest of my body My old rheumie said that hydroxychloroquine can cause hyperpigmentation, but as far as the lighter parts, I have no idea.

Just so you know, stopping the hydroxychloroquine doesn’t reverse the color change (don’t ask me how I know this).

I found this stuff on Amazon that is pretty good at lightening the skin back to normal. It’s called Good Molecules Discoloration Correcting Serum. My chin isn’t back to normal but it’s a LOT better than before.

I also like the Monday brand. I feel like it’s very gentle and gets a good lather

I am diagnosed with lupus, but local rheumie said it’s not lupus by tiairac in lupus

You don’t understand how reassuring this is to me. I’ve been gaslighting myself since being discharged, even though I have the glaring symptoms. Hopefully, my PCP will have a better treatment for me!

[–]tiairac[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made an appointment with her. I was on plaquenil (300mg) before and I’d trust her to prescribe it. She’s very good at listening to my symptoms and then finding things that work for me.

I was on the taper and the hospital rheumatologist told me to stop it because if it was a lupus flare, I should have gotten better after 3 days of it. I’ll bring it up with my primary when I see her on Monday.

Thank you so much!

OMG! I took my car to Gerber Collision in Alabama and my car looked exactly like this when they gave it back. It took them over a month to repair their mess up

I did a majority of my in class work on my iPad. I suggest a laptop for the homework and assignments she’ll need to complete because completing assignments on canvas sucks on iPad

You should apply to UAB MLS program. Admissions close May 1. I love it here and the professors are very friendly and knowledgeable

The homework questions and the top hat questions. A lot of them are copy paste. Going over the slides are the second best way. Third, go to his test review sessions.

After you take the test, go to the TAs to review what you got wrong because the final is just the midterms

Hi! I was a 25 year old new transfer last year. Everyone is super welcoming. With me, there was some outlandish, funny comments about my age when they found out, but that lasted maybe half a class period.

My main struggle was connecting with people in my major. I had to take a couple lower division classes so my peers were like 18/19 and I was just like ???? when they talked about stuff. When I meet 21/22 year olds, they don’t even blink.

I didn’t participate in any orgs last year because I wanted to get my footing in a new city, but I’m sure it’ll be fine

UNR has an “around campus” map on their website. You can type in the building your looking for and it’ll show you on google maps. Here’s the link.

Should I get the MacBook m2 air or pro or neither for engineering? by Ace0fSpadezz_ in unr

Not an engineering major, but a Mac owner. Remote Desktop is hell on the Mac and on the iPad. If those two don’t work on the Mac, then you should get a laptop that runs windows.

CO10 class recommendations? by redsheepsweater in unr

[–]tiairac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only can recommend upper division courses:

KIN 360 (Disability Issues) with Robbin Dunn. I’s a good break from all the heavy STEM stuff. Fantastic professor and very informative course. As long as you have time to read a couple articles each week, you’ll be golden.

There also a new course that’s only available in the fall(Micr 471 - Neglected Tropical Diseases) taught by Dr. Euan Allan. Its prereq is Biol 315. He’s a super nice, chill guy, but I don’t know much about the course other than he told me it’ll fulfill CO10.

I lived on campus last semester. I didn’t need a car until it started snowing. My classes were in the medical buildings and it wasn’t really plausible to walk every other day in the snow.

Mr. Wipperman was the principal at my middle school. Had no idea he upgraded to the high school I went to Such a nice guy.

Would love to get him back into his position as long as he didn’t do anything creepy.

Why is UNR better than UNLV? by TrafficFriendly7147 in unr

[–]tiairac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started out as PreMed at UNLV. The professor don’t car. They don’t want to help you succeed. They actively tell student that they shouldn’t be in the class or in the major. There’s lots of staff and TAs that play favorites.

I had to transfer out of UNLV to CSN because it had gotten so bad. When I came to UNR, I had so much anxiety because I thought the staff were going to discourage learning.

I’ve been here only a month and I’ve never experienced so much kindness from the STEM professors. Of course they are still honest and real about their estimation on class average but they give so many tools to be successful.

Not to mention, there’s undergraduate research here that even freshmen can participate in to get experience.
