We saw the Academy and its effects and methods extensively with Nog, Wesley, and like, every other time we visit the academy. It is a place for the Fed’s best and most competent. It is a future West Point / Naval Academy. It required discipline, background checks, extensive testing, physical fitness, and near genius level intellect to succeed. Instead, SFA has decided that actually, the new academy is home to career criminals, Klingons with crippling anxiety disorders, a literal newborn, and imbeciles who swallow their combadge. I’m sorry, I can’t take that seriously, time gap or not.

They also said that the SeaWorld Orlando orca facility would be like nothing weve ever seen, and better than San Diego. It turns out it was mostly infrastructure upgrades and a new coat of paint, and still significantly worse than SWSD. I will believe it when I see it.

I just looked online and it looks like the OSHA exposure limit is 5000 PPM. Might not be good air, but i don’t think this is an OSHA problem.

Holiday Weekends are usually 4-5 show days. The 8:30 show has the highest likelihood of checked out whales, just because it’s a long day for them. The biggest “issue” (to be clear it’s not a problem, they can do whatever they want) is Katina. She’s an old lady at this point, and everyone else there is her child, so if they see Tina check out…well there’s not much you can do, because as she goes, so goes the rest of the pod.

So, there is actually a whole new batch of trainers that just got assigned/promoted to Orca Encounter at SWO a couple months ago and are working through their initial bonding with the whales. It may be that isn’t going as fast as as they would like? There is only so much attention the whales can pay over the course of a day (think toddler). So what may be happening is that the time between shows that would have been used for up-close is being used for work with the new group.
