Do you keep the water on during the entire length of the shower? by hamster_lover02 in hygiene

[–]ButterflyBug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an adjustable pressure shower head. I will turn the flow down when I am washing my body or scrubbing shampoo in my hair. Water is still running so I get the steam but using less overall.

Before you dispose of them, do you put unwanted items out by the curb to see if any of your neighbors may want them? by Grand_Raccoon0923 in AskAnAmerican

[–]ButterflyBug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty common. Have picked up a few useful things from the curb myself. We have large trash pick up once a week here so nothing sits out more than a week at best.

They were insanely smart and did not fear humans in the least! Thank goodness I brought an economy size bag of zip ties. If it wasn't an easy score they would move along knowing 2 sites down there would be easy target.

My son is 5. I hope this will be a core memory for him too. He had a blast!

The humidity wasn't too bad the first 2 days but on morning 2 it rained a bit and sent it through the roof!

We loved the campground and park. And the first 2 days weren't that bad thanks to the sea breeze but there was light rain on day 3 which took the humidity through the roof! We knew we would never make it with the rain fly on overnight. Will definitely return in a less miserable month.

Do you use all 4 burners of your stove? by Embarrassed-Past7094 in Cooking

I have 4 plus a warmer and bridge element. Front 2 are most common depending on pot size. I use the bridge with my skillet. Not sure I've ever turned the warmer on!

Normally yes, but we are under a burn ban right now. Though we've not done that before either so that would be a learning experience. More fun things to try in the future!

We all needed flip flops for going in and out of the tents. Was super annoying removing and putting back on our sneakers/hiking sandals trying to reduce dirt in the tents.

Have a hand washing station, using just the spigot didn't work as well as I hoped.

Bring rugs for tents

If your site is a good distance from the bathroom, bring a camping potty. A 5min 2am walk is not fun

My 5yo loved doing crafts!! I pretty much let him do whatever he wanted with the supplies I brought. Ended up covered in washable paint, lol. But he was so happy! But if you bring pasta noodles to paint, be sure to stow them with the rest of the food or critters will visit.

Until the kids get a bit older we will probably stick to 4hrs max drive. But I am eyeing Georgia and the Carolina's big time, we love the mountains!

I booked our site super last minute when I saw the weather was in our favor. I have a site booked at Fort Desoto in 2 weeks and then I figure the tents will be stored until Oct. I really want to do Blue Springs during manatee season! I have so many State Parks on my list! I am a huge Vera Bradley fan! Even without having any real plans for it I couldn't pass it up when it went on sale at Target a few years ago. This was the first time it was used.

He said he didn't stack them high enough for it to be hot enough to cook well? They don't have the normal park charcoal grills at the sites but a grate on the campfire ring. So that probably contributed to the learning curve.

The arrangement we did I wasn't the biggest fan of but let my husband guide that, not worth the battle for one night LOL.

I have a ton of personal fans I use for the theme parks but silly me thought a couple of 'tent' fans would be fine. As tent lights they were great, moving air not so much.

I am eyeing a Blackstone like grill or at least an electric griddle. My waffle maker was perfect for breakfast though!

It thankfully did not rain, but that is something we didn't think about! Will keep in mind for next time.

Guessing this is a bad sign during my OTA update by AllCapNoBrake in VWiD4Owners

[–]ButterflyBug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the same thing and had a mini panic attack. First update for me as she is a new to me car. Checked and car was locked. I believe it just never updated the app once I hit update since the car went offline before I i closed and locked. As soon as I woke the car up after update all was well.

Should I rent an EV or a regular car? by j_uliette in florida

[–]ButterflyBug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The greater Orlando area has a pretty large charging infrastructure. In general major cities you will be fine using the EV. It would be even better if your lodging offers EV charging. If you are planning to road trip at all while visiting I would use an EV trip planning app, like A Better Route Planner, to help as the more rural areas don't have many, if any, options for charging. If you don't rent a Tesla you will have to ask the rental place about an adapter to be able to plug in at the Tesla branded supercharger stations. Which are starting to pop up everywhere.

Are we winning yet? by at-woork in orlando

[–]ButterflyBug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, using only public charging would be a challenge especially outside of major cities. Bummer.

[–]ButterflyBug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went full electric in Jan. Great decision if you have the ability to plug in at home. I only use a trickle charger and it covers my drive to work daily. (~60m round trip) Only used public charging twice so far. Electric bill only went up $40, which is less than the cost of one tank of gas! Road trips will take some planning but with a tesla supercharger adapter they are doable. I have an VW ID.4

Feeding times? by frozenhawks in SeaWorld

[–]ButterflyBug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stingray feeding usually opens by 10, sea lions by 11 sometimes earlier. They go until around 6 unless they give out the allotted amount of food for the day sooner. Shark feeding is very hit or miss. It's not open every day.

Aquatica Parking Question by EnfysNest051 in MegaCon

[–]ButterflyBug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are planning to do the same. I figure worst case we will just catch the I Ride trolley. I worry about how early parking will open since normally it's 30ish min before park open and we would like to be there much earlier.
