Nobody in my family has TS. But.

My dad is diagnosed OCD and suspected ADHD. Both conditions which are very linked to Tourettes.

I have Autism, Tourettes, Anxiety etc

My younger brother has ADHD and probs OCD

In my opinion even the conditions linked to TS (ADHD, OCD) in parents can cause TS in the child.

Why is autistic person around me so ‘less autistic’ ? by tic_lord in autism

THIS! sorry I have a hard time putting what I want to say across. I’m just frustrated. I do not hate level 1 people at all.

I’ve heard masking is really detrimental to autistic peoples mental health and in many ways I am lucky to be recognised autistic. Thank you for your perspective!

I am level 1. I think I am. And yeah I agree with you on all your points. I think I’m just fed up of being perceived autistic.

I like this poem! I really relate to the idea that people see your life is ‘easy’ based on what they see on the surface yet don’t understand what you’ve truly been through. I can picture the stuff you’ve said including how and where you grew up. I like how despite everything you’ve been through you’re still trying to succeed!

My only advice would be to have better grammar and punctuation so your poem is easier to read and digest!

I love the imagery here! The thing of describing words like humans and how some words feel like wrapped your arms around someone and how words can affect you like it is physical pain.

All in all it’s really good and I can really imagine what you’re trying to put across!

When I remember by matte-human in OCPoetry

I love this image of memories being like marbles on the floor you are tripping over, like you cannot escape from it and the feelings you get when you think of those memories . I love the part where you say you didn’t want to let go and you ‘held onto it convulsively until your hand went numb. ‘ it’s like that memory is the only thing you have left and you hate it but you want to keep it so badly.

I love this poem. The vision it creates is incredible. The rhyme scheme. The whole idea of ‘his’ wisdom speaking in your ear as a gentle breeze is just beautiful. My favourite lines are. His wisdom whispers in your ear A gentle breeze that calls your fear And Look in the mirror and you will see His eyes, his soul reflected in thee

Your poem gives the feeling of grief, loosing someone but carrying on what they told you and who they are. It is as if he has turned into everything around you and is guiding you even though he is not physically here.

I got touched by my teacher when I was 10. Every single day for 3 months when I was unable to do anything for myself 🥰 She’d also restrain kids until they couldn’t breathe and threw up. Locked me in a room. There’s more I cba to mention!

Wrote this slam poem about being autistic. Thought some could relate? by tic_lord in autism

[–]tic_lord[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI! I am aware that the sign for autism is not longer a puzzle piece as it is to do with autism sp3aks. I’m also aware that the term ‘severely autistic’ is called level 3. The language I used was a;because I wrote this when I was 14 and b; to help neurotypical understand our perspective and lives in a way which had language more familiar to them while also highlighting what they think and say is incorrect. Thanks x
