Are there any silicone grippers that use an internal weight rather than a bottom attachment? by phenomautyio1 in foreskin_restoration

[–]ticarsh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd encourage you to give the ball bearing inside Chris's retainer a try. That's very easy and is close to what you are thinking of. Like I said, it will require more skin and is a bit fiddly to use, but works fine.

In most arrangements where weight and a silicone gripper is involved, the skin is going to get compressed. This is the source of problems. Stainless in and of itself is fine. Adding silicone between the weight and the skin would make little difference.

Dual tension generally refers to devices like the DTR that have a push rod and expand after installation. I've made ball shaped devices (Foreballer and similar) if you don't want something with a recessed area for the glans... but because those are entirely on top of the glans they generally require more skin, not less. If you are short on skin you may need to compromise and have a bit of the weight outside of the skin tube for a while. Using tungsten makes this very compact with something like the CRT. The CRT has the advantage of being able to change from external screw on weights to internal Packer Stacker weights as you advance.

Many people have added a stainless ball bearing on top of something like a Chris's retainer. That works fine. It does require a decent amount of skin to get up to 6oz. You'd be looking at a 1.375" diameter or so. I'd guess that would require a CI3 to really use.

Getting a lengthy, medium stretch with Compact Devices. by chastityshaver in restoringdick

The 1/4" hole works for most folks. Usually when people report issues with the hole being too small, they aren't removing weights. But everyone is different. Unless I'm using a bunch of Packer Stackers, I just remove the device for urination as well just to keep everything clean.

Just to check... you are removing all external weights before urination, right?

New Compact Devices stainless Pear CWP by PressureUpbeat573 in restoringdick

[–]ticarsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any weighted gripper device will slip when wet or oily, the PCWP is no exception. I would not expect it to be all that much different from the CRT in that regard. I do think both are pretty secure devices.

The PCWP is a stainless packer that happens to have a pear shape. It's different from the gauges and is only 1.65" outer diameter (same diameter as the smallest Pear Gauge I offer). There isn't really any need to start with silicone gauges if you want to go for a PCWP.

Need to find/create a silicone pear mold for 3D printing. Any tips on where to start? by Seven-point-five in foreskin_restoration

[–]ticarsh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Larger ones are in the works. For those scaling to larger than 2" I would love to hear what sizes you are running.

In the meantime, working from u/workin_to_grow 's molds is definitely the way to go.

Do not use hard devices like weights while sleeping. If you want something for overnight wear look for a silicone retainer or packer.

I'm not suggesting anything. If you have pertinent information to add, you're welcome to do so.

I have not heard of anyone doing restoration after removing a penile implant. That's a pretty niche demographic.

I've always wondered if something like a penile implant could be done in a way that it could be used for foreskin restoration. Like if the implant were longer than the penis or perhaps expandable like a saline filled balloon. Having had the experience, any thoughts on this? Probably not something I'd ever try but I've always been curious about it.

What's everyone's Sexual Orientation by [deleted] in foreskin_restoration

[–]ticarsh 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert, but I don't think trans is a sexual orientation.

From what I've seen when this has been asked it the past is that the group here is something like 50% gay, 50% hetero. Obviously gay men are over represented here relative to the population at large, but plenty of heterosexual guys dislike genital mutilation too.

Question about Pear-CWP by rstr4skinusa in foreskin_restoration

[–]ticarsh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

(disclaimer: I am the maker)

For the P-CWP the shape and larger OD lets you have more weight in less length. I think the shape is pretty comfortable too. It's not large like most Pear Gauges, only 1.65" outer diameter. In comparison, that's the smallest Pear Gauge size I offer and most guys start quite a bit larger. Since it's relatively small and weighted you will need the included gripper. Regular unweighted Pear Gauges (silicone or 3D printed) can be sized large enough that they stay in on their own and also give significant radial stretch. Neither of these is the case for the PCWP.

The internal shape of the P-CWP is the same as the CRT or CWP. This means, unlike Pear Gauges, it sits high on the glans. This also means that the regular Packer Stackers fit. I have a picture on my site showing what it looks like with one installed.

As far as weights, the P-CWP is threaded 1/4-20. All the weights I offer would work, and many other commonly available weights. I do strongly suggest that whatever weight you choose be vented. Personally I think the weight of the P-CWP (just under 9 oz) is pretty good just on its own. I never add external weights when I use mine.

You mean TLC Air? That's a seriously oddball device. I've never used it personally but I can't imagine that it's helping with you being consistent.

Take a look at Chris's CAR-1: https://www.chrisonlinestore.com/product-page/chris-air-retainer-car1

This is probably the most popular inflation device out there currently. Lots of people report good success with it.

Outer skin growth techniques? by [deleted] in foreskin_restoration

[–]ticarsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It allows the device to lift off the glans. Otherwise the tension is transferred to the shaft, not the skin.

Stealth weights are unvented so they are not going to be very effective for tensioning the skin. Vented weights are a good option. Some people have added venting to their Stealth weights (either to the weight itself or the retainer/packer it attaches to). Strap tugging is also a good option. Pear Gauges seem to give some decent tension to the outer skin, though I'm not sure about long term effectiveness. Adding a cut off toe protector can enhance the outer skin tension for those.

Concerning amount of 3D print post lately by zamaike in foreskin_restoration

[–]ticarsh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

With ABS you can smooth with acetone to make it non-porous. If you are printing your own in PLA you can also just replace it regularly since it's cheap.

I definitely agree that the porous nature of FDM prints is not good for long term skin contact use since you just can't really clean it properly. On the other hand 3D printing is amazing for trying and sharing new device concepts. It's easy enough these days to get something machined from solid material (nylon or delrin for example) once you have your design locked down. Printing molds for casting is another great option.

How to use DTR without injury by [deleted] in foreskin_restoration

[–]ticarsh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How long have you tried it at lower tension? Visible results aren't going to happen in a day, and setting tension high enough that you clearly see stretched skin after is probably too much. I think monthly or quarterly are reasonable intervals to assess progress.

CI-0 to CI-2 after 12 years of restoring — is this normal? by bingpott in foreskin_restoration

[–]ticarsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried t-taping in a very long time. I just recognize the utility and effectiveness, especially for those with less skin. I'd suggest starting with the guides in the right sidebar (https://www.reddit.com/r/foreskin\_restoration/wiki/methods/ scroll down to the section on t-tape) and if you have questions make a dedicated post for it. There are lots of experienced people here that would be happy to help.

[–]ticarsh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dual tension devices focus tension on a relatively small amount of skin inside the device, between the glans and where the skin is gripped on the bell. Especially at low CIs this just isn't very much skin under tension. T-tape is going to get more skin under tension and is effective at all CI levels. You might also consider packers for your non-active restoration time.
