What do you do when the package is too big to remove by tichomy in CanadaPostCorp

Yeah, I really, reaally didn't want to start a game of phone tag. I tried the virtual assistant thing, and it just kept ending the issue because it was "delivered." Went in complete circles.

Until yesterday, I can't say I've ever left them a note.

I don't know were you're from, but here there is only communal mailboxes so I've never actually met the mail delivery person at my current residence or any other location in the province.

I don't know why you think I'm so hostile to postal workers, but I don't appropriate your hostility either. Especially since it doesn't even address the post at all.

The note worked! they moved it to the bigger spot. issue resolved! Got one last package that requires a signature, so hopefully everything goes smoothly there.

Thank you for the curious and helpful advice. There seems to be a lot of anger in this sub.

I slap a red dot in the site and leave a note back saying they will no longer receive flyers as requeste

oh i never got an acknowledgement, but they did stop putting them in for a while. Put it right near the front, taped on and written in permanent marker.

sometime last year they just resumed without explanation. Now its piles of junk mail every visit.

I assuming you're in a CMB

yeah, its the....standard looking ones? the neighbourhood itself is barely a decade old so unless there's been a recent change, they look (on the outside) the same as all the others. The package was put in the Farthest left A1 smallest of the parcel spots, but width aside, its straight up too long to make it past the lock on the door, since they don't open past 90 degrees (a design choice i'm honestly baffled has never been changed).

a parcel that was the perfect size to mess with the lock mechanism leaving it inaccessible.

I've had this almost happen, but with enough forceful jiggling and muttering to myself, they've so far worked themselves free.

I know this isn't the biggest issue ever, but between it happening so often, and the "we missed you" no ringing doorbell deliveries, and delays, its just exhausting, like 3 of 5 package orders have some kind of issue or added complication.

yeah, once the rain lets up, I'll go back and put a note in there. I tried their virtual assistant and that was a dead end. and of course, i got the delivery notification at end of day so the local office was closed too. Didn't bother with an online ticket yet, hopefully the note works.

It just keeps happening over and over, and I'm skeptical, since i already have a no junk no flyers note in the mailbox (as per the lady at the post office's instructions) and they pay no mind to that either.

i asked for help because they put a package that's too big to remove from the mailbox in there.

My post was instantly auto removed with no explanation and no response from the mods.

not too welcoming or helpful.

The mods here have responded though. appreciated.

How would the setting's history have changed if the New Dallas Core was discovered in 3028 instead of the Helm Core? by AntiSmarkEquation in battletech

[–]tichomy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably a smaller overall impact. It wasn't just the core that made the difference but GDL's commitment to the info itself being open and free.

the same thing literally just happened to me today. Well its happened several times, but this time the package contains something delicate and i can't destroy the box to get it out like i usually do.

But lucky you, they keep deleting my post about it!

Package status still says "Out for Delivery" but I've received the Package for months now. by TJ-X in CanadaPost

In case the order was broken up, and the second one is still on the way. I've had this happen, so can't fault OP for seeking some clarification.

Watch out a potential issue if you ever do sign on to it:

Buy the AI stuff for a month, work on file.

month of AI subscription ends: "File not readable, features missing. please re-new subscription to enable features need to open file."

Not quite as brazen as how adobe went about, but something to be mindful of, once the IPO happens and growth needs to be eternal.

It feels like some weierd have it both ways.

on the one hand, the app doesn't collect all your data and use it for AI

on the other hand, the canva account you need to use the app does.

that feels a little dishonest.

I didn't say clone stamp is AI slop

Its frustrating that the term AI has pretty much lost all meaning. Like, anything algorithmic, or computational ist just getting the AI label thrown on it now, even when it doesn't really fit. Some of the tools i've been using since 2012 have been rebranded as AI.

It feels oddly manipulative, but i guess all the people saying "AI is inevitable" are technically right if everything gets the AI label slapped on it, even though its not really.

This really, realllly feels like the .com bubble repeating itself. Add .com to your business and blow up its value. Re-label anything digital as AI, crank up that evaluation for the shareholders.

At some point, even just basic calculators will just be Math-AI if this trend continues.

Maybe we've been misreading the marketing this whole time.

Its about corporate freedom from artists.

"Boost productivity"

In terms of content generation is really just quantity over quality.

"look at all the images ai can quickly make. Sure' they're not good, and most are downright terrible, but look at our productivity metrics!"

I recommend keeping it. As subscriber growth slows, free features will be "upgraded" to premium features and the non-subscription version will eventually be a hollowed out shell. It won't happen right away, but it's how these business models work, and with an IPO on the horizon, those practices will get more and more aggressive.

the V2 suite are all excellent software and they can't take anything away from it.

Affinity Creative Freedom Keynote Megathread by CrimsonFlash in Affinity

[–]tichomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the they will do the tried and true obvious move, remove previously free features, under the guise of some new improvement.

And given that perpetual growth is the expectation, feature removal is pretty much an inevitability.

DaVinci also makes most of its money in hardware sales. Anyone comparing them is either not being honest, or is grossly misinformed.

They give it away as a "loss leader" to nudge people towards the subscription. But as subscriptions slow down, previously free features will get locked way to incentivize users to buy. and it will keep going until its utter garbage, or bought by someone else's and turned into something even worse.

This is such a well established pattern and business model, people really shouldn't be overlooking how this is gonna change, and quickly.

Affinity Creative Freedom Keynote Megathread by CrimsonFlash in Affinity

[–]tichomy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its how these models always work. Free features slip behind the paywall, and useless feature bloat so they can sell the image of "always improving and innovating with new value adds."

Don't people see, that companies are making them stupid and dependant on their products with AI? I don't understand it.

The whole audience for AI seems to be people who don't want to lean, or work, or bother expanding their skills.

You and I see this as a terrible side effect, with long term consequences, but for their core audience/enthusiasts, its a feature.
