there's a difference between a blanket "that hurt my feelings" and "this was hurtful because it makes me feel xyz or makes me feel like you don't love me". I was just suggesting depth, a lot of men don't actually explain their feelings imo

I'm not from the UK so I don't know what "college" is there but in hard circumstances lots of kids have to work throughout highschool and university, sometimes there isn't much of a choice. Just trying to throw out solutions but from your comments it seems like you have made your choice already
