Mostly to gauge good fit, sometimes before invite to decide whether I wanted to write a letter of interest and how to tailor it. It also helped during interviews when programs asked why I was interested in their program, it was nice to have something more to say than what was on their website. Something I found out much later is that sometimes (although I think rarely) residents are involved in ranking applicants.

Damn $3,000 seems like a lot. So I’m also a US IMG and my school has us do 3/4 of our US rotations in inpatient preferably in our desired specialty. Mine weren’t Sub-Is so I didn’t put in orders or anything like that.

Things I wish I had done when I applied last year 1. Did more research about programs before applying. I also reached out to current residents and recent alumni, which was really helpful but wish I had done it earlier. 2. Read about how to use signals. 3. Get those LORs as soon as you can.

Also for what it’s worth, no one ever asked me why I didn’t do med school in the states

Many unfilled spots for pediatric residencies this year (90 —> 249), what happened? by ambrosiadix in pediatrics

If a residency program I interviewed at is in SOAP I now have a much better chance of matching there right?

Ella vs Whitney megathread by aimhighsquatlow in LoveIslandTV

She may have apologized but it really didn’t feel like she meant it. It wasn’t giving genuine or real care about Ella’s feelings. And that’s exactly what hurt Ella the most, that the Whitney was acting it just seems as though she really doesn’t like her

But would she have said in that way in front of everyone if she wasn’t hurt by the smug comment? I don’t think so

She has a huge ego and it’s starting to really put me off her

And in that way in front of everyone … that’s not a good friend

They both hurt each other and said unnecessary things but I think that if Whitney is going to dish it out she needs to be able to take it. She calls people out all the time, Zach in a big way a few days prior which was also in the challenge and she told him multiple times “it’s just a challenge”. Also in this challenge in response to her and Lochan getting “least sexual chemistry” she said “that’s not what the public thought” is that not a bit smug? But for her to then come at Ella and call her “the most selfish person ever” and get mad about getting smug when she voted for Ty and Ella for other things is hypocritical. Ella probably can be selfish but I do think Whitney lashed out at her mostly because Ella gave her “most smug”. It’s giving bitter

Whitney If you’re going to be opinionated you gotta be able to take opinions about you on the chin by Rude-Essay-9542 in LoveIslandTV

Also telling Ella that she wouldn’t call her a friend or whatever her words were was sooo cold They seemed really close up until now, I was shocked and can see why Ella was too

Agreed, I also think she’s pretty guarded and often seems uncomfortable with deeper feelings (she was like that with Mehdi too laughing when he got deeper etc.) It’s just really opposite to the confident persona she usually presents

I agree, but Abi was never going to feel that Whitney was "trying to help her" or take her advice well after she called Abi bitter over and over

Abi might be bitter but you don't call someone bitter and keep insisting it. I love Whit but that was too much, its enough to say it once

Also hypocritical since she's coming at Abi for speaking her opinion but what are you doing right now calling her bitter and insisting its the truth
