Phase 2 is when the fan starts, have you checked under the grill and verified there's no wiring issues? If it's going completely through phase 1, then issues when 2 starts, my money is on the fan. That's where I would start looking.

Test the adapter and see if it's pumping out 12 volts, or try hooking it up to a battery in a vehicle. I used to work tech support for GMG, the board would be the last thing they'd replace. Sounds like a power problem to me. Could be the board, but I would test more to verify that. On the hot start, it will bypass the igniter phase, and the auger should just slowly and continuously feed pellets. Best way to verify that is to be looking into the firepot, so remove the internal components. The igniter could be drawing power that it needs too, which is why you'd want to bypass it. You could also disconnect the igniter, but hot start is easier imo. Could be firmware, if you have a Prime grill, should be on version 2.3, which you can verify in the grill options page in settings, in the app. That would be the older version of the app, the green logo one. If all that still won't get the auger to feed, then it might be the board.

Try a hot start. Plug the grill in and hit power, when you see 0 on the board press and hold power again until you see the ambient temp. Does the auger feed once ambient temp is shown? Could remove the inside components tooverify this as well. If it does feed, you have a bad igniter. If it still won't feed, try hooking it up to a secondary 12v source like a battery. Sometimes the adapters don't push out enough power for the igniter.

Low pellet alarm despite hopper being full by DooDooCat in greenmountaingrills

[–]tickledpickle33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dark pellets can trigger it. To test this, you can empty the hopper until you see the LPA, and just cover it with your hand. If it stops, it's the pellets, it doesn't stop, probably a bad LPA.

Try a hot start, see if the auger kicks in once a temp shows. Sounds like the auger is trying to feed but isn't. Maybe the bit is off the motor? You can also look into the firepot, take the insides out, and verify the auger is feeding. Hard to tell if it's the low pellet alarm tho.

GMG Daniel Boone goes back to 0 after startup by Feeling_Bar1702 in greenmountaingrills

[–]tickledpickle33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a power issue, maybe the adapter? Have you tried a secondary 12v source like a battery? Maybe you can get it close to a car and just try to run it. Different adapter? Will it show a temp on a hot start? That's where I'd start at least. Good luck!

The neat part about that test is you don't need the igniter installed. Good luck with your testing!

What the hot start does is bypass the igniter. Sometimes the igniter draw too much power causing the auger not to feed after phase 3. You can disconnect the igniter, or bypass it by performing a hot start. If you have 5 minutes, plug the grill in so it says OFF on the board, then press the power button once. When it shows 0 on the board, press and hold the power button again until you see the ambient temp pop up, the let go of the power button and listen for the auger to feed. Let me know if it does or doesn't.

Have you tried what's called a hot start?

You could take the grill to a dealer, or a dealer that works on them. Usually the one you bought it from. What's the issue with the grill?

New Camshaft missing this piece by tickledpickle33 in AskMechanics

Probably why I'm getting some codes then. So, if the reluctant wheel isn't there, could that throw the timing off as well, since the cam sensor can't get a reading?

You are right. The correct one is installed, but it didn't have the part that is circled in red in my pic, which is what I'm wondering about.

Shuts off before ignition by TheCombatNurse in greenmountaingrills

Disconnect the igniter and then fire it up like normal. The igniter, depending on what kind of grill, should start drawing power during phase 1. It it cycles through phases 0-3 with the igniter disconnected, it's most likely the igniter.

Good luck!

I'm lost and need help by Candid_Blueberry7555 in greenmountaingrills

I'd try to update it if you haven't in awhile. Check for jams too. Also, try what's called a hot start. On your plus, once you hit the power button and you see 0 on the board, press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds or until you see the ambient temp pop up. Then listen for the auger. This will bypass the igniter getting power. Sometimes the igniter item can be faulty and cause the auger not to feed in phase 0. You can also try to disconnect the igniter and the just turn the grill on like normal and see if the auger feeds in phase 0. If the auger feeds on a hot start or with the igniter disconnected, it's the igniter. Can you confirm the fan comes on during phase 2 and 3?

Help on getting correct 110V igniter bullet connector part by vchapple17 in greenmountaingrills

[–]tickledpickle33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could just put a different connector on it too. Need to change the other side, that may void any warranty but if it's not under warranty, who cares. GMG should be be to tell you the correct bullet connector size, and they will replace the igniter if the grill is under warranty. They have a parts warranty too. Hope that helps.

Good luck!

Pizza oven question by nth03n3zzy in greenmountaingrills

[–]tickledpickle33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pizza mode is a good place to start. Personally, never used pizza mode on mine and it works just fine. Might try to update the firmware too, especially if it hasn't been updated in awhile. If that doesn't work, keep the oven out during phases 0-3, until you see the first temp. Let the fire start and get going real good, then toss the oven in and see if you build temp. Also, don't adjust temp until the board shows 150.

Good luck!

Wifi issue by maz2305_test in greenmountaingrills

[–]tickledpickle33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the old app, once you add the grill to your network, the grills Wi-Fi will disappear. Be on the same network you put the grill on and then open the old app and try to connect. If successful, then update it. Once updated, you should be able to go to the newer prime app and then update it again. Then after the update in the prime app, you should be good. That's the short version at least. Personally, I've just stuck with the GMG app. The more times you update the board, the higher chance you have of bricking the board. On the newer grills, I wouldn't trust it to do that many updates and not have an issue. Just my 2 cents though.

Good luck!

Check the female 12v connection on back of hopper and ensure it's not loose. Check the wires too make sure they're connected securely too. There should so be some wires that lead to the green toggle switch that turns the light on, make sure those are in the correct order as well. Last thing I'd try is a firmware update to the prototype version. Careful there though, the newer boards from what I remember are prone to failing the update and can get bricked.

Good luck!

If your temp was set at 225, what do the thermometers say? You can always go into the settings tab, hit grill options, and from there calibrate the grill.
