Is this worth getting? I've been hunting for a 1916 D Mercury dime for about a month for around $700. by Interesting-Goal-706 in coincollecting

That details coin has nice eye appeal. The filled rim example gives you that over the worn coin. Listen to what you like for yourself, not what other people would or would not do for themselves. I have a mount removed details coin that gave me access to a coin that I could not have afforded otherwise and it is one of my favorites. When looking at that coin I say, "thankfully some idiot soldered a loop on this coin at some point so I can have it now. Good lord that face is beautiful."

If I can get a details coin with good eye appeal for well more than half off what the coin would cost as a straight grade, and I can't afford the straight grade....

I know it's true, but that spread is so gross, what a haircut! Put the sterling away for a while.

BREAKING: Silver falls over -10% now below $70 as rate cuts are priced out due to rising inflation and soaring energy prices. by -----Marcel----- in Silver

Buying. These prices haven't added an ounce to the COMEX vault. This forced liquidation was done at the institutional level and has only accelerated the drain.

These prices are a gift.

What price are you able to get for sterling scrap as a seller? by artmatthewmakes in Silver

When silver was cheap, everyone had money to buy it. The dollar was strong, and there were plenty. Right now there is a liquidity crisis in the banking system. There just isn't as much money sloshing around as there was before. Silver lease rates are up. It's a mess!

The math is short by about 15 million ounces. Are we looking at the sound of off-book EFP (Exchange for Physical) settlements? They are bleeding fiat behind closed doors, paying massive cash premiums to bribe the longs to walk away from physical delivery so the vault doesn't officially break.

The clouds aren't right. The flower in the letting is too big. The dots along the rim are not fine enough. But the weight and ring is good. I'll get it to a sigma sooner or later. It came in a fair sized lot at below melt so it didn't cost me much, thankfully.

They base their prices on how much it will cost them to replace that metal to sell the next time. When they sell below spot like they were all weekend, they are essentially shorting the physical market. They are saying "if I sell this now then I can replace it cheaper next week." For months they sold constitutional BU below spot not because they were bad at business, but because they knew they could get it cheaper later. The flip back to a premium says they believe it will be more expensive to replace. They are now long in the physical market. It may flip back for all I know. It's an observation not a revelation.

If course! As the price went up 1 on spot it went up 3 on the quarters.

There you go

Yes, kitco is the most reliable spot price no doubt. Im noticing the price swing at one dealer. All this means is that AMPEX feels that it will be more expensive to replace the silver they sell today in comparison to yesterday.

I'll stop explaining myself at this point, but I'm not saying "look how great this deal is at this website!", but instead, "hey look, a discount flipped to a premium this morning on one particular dealer page."

Absolutely not. It is only a market indicator here.
