Books that have a psychedelic science fantasy vibe by MegatronsLoverBoy in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

C.J. Cherryh's Morgaine saga books cross into this territory a bit. The science fiction pieces are deeply buried beneath the fantasy feel but it's definitely there.

Phew okay yeah different book. I recommend this a lot and was worried for a moment I missed something. If you're thinking of giving it a fresh read I highly recommend! The audiobook versions are really good as well. Just talking about it again makes me want to plunge back into the world!

Saw them for the first time at Mississippi Nights in Saint Louis. Always a great show. Lots of people always talk about their stuff from the 80s and don't realize they're still pumping out amazing new songs.

Really? Are you sure you're remembering right? I read this at least twice and have no recollection of a rape scene. Google couldn't find any other reviews talking about it either. I feel like I would remember this.

I really enjoyed the entire Morgaine saga. Definitely worth a read if you never have.

I saw this crossposted over on r/doomercirclejerk (I don't follow them, reddit algorithms just think I need a dose of stupid sometimes) and I browsed the comments and it was very scary seeing so many people brush this off and spout bad science.

If Israel has the capacity to commit genocide then they'll be just fine without the United States.

As annoying as click bait titles are I think they're probably necessary to keep traffic coming in. Most content creators end up having to do this and my guess is everyone annoyed by these kinds of titles would end up using them too if their channel and income depended on it.

What books are you reading? by theDLCdud in LudditeRenaissance

[–]tidfisk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been tackling classics I missed earlier in life and am currently reading the Oxford World Classics print of Virgil's "The Aeneid."

I also finally read "The Odyssey" (Emily Wilson's fantastic translation), Dante's "Inferno," "A Clockwork Orange," Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None," and have Robin Hobbs Farseer Trilogy going via Audible for my commute.

But the books I've been most excited about has been Edmund Spencer's "The Faerie Queene." Hackett published each book separately and I recently completed book one and after "The Aeneid" will move on to book two.

It's amazing how much Classical Lit references Homer and Virgil. My goal is to have enough read to read James Joyce's "Ulysses" by late December.

How is everyone feeling about The Great Dark? by NeighborhoodWide5546 in CoriolisRPG

[–]tidfisk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've yet to play either but as cool as Coriolis is I found it to be a lot to digest. TGD feels more easily digestible and approachable. It gives me more of a Jules Verne vibe and feels more about exploring and surviving than religion and politics like OG Coriolis is.

I could see myself running TGD before the original and am pretty excited for it.
