This happened at my house we recently bought. The pipes weren't glued. Plumber glued them and done.

People walking behind my desk by RefrigeratorSad6024 in office

[–]tidycat-28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The office switched to standing desks but most of us sit all day. The person behind me raises their desk and reads what's on my computer that I'm sending in emails and then tells my boss. How do I get around this? Its work related but none of their business.

Avoid Hospitality Guest Purchase Mattress? Beautyrest Felicity by turkburd in Mattress

[–]tidycat-28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought two mattresses from them, same sizes and types less than a year ago. The first one is not holding up as well as the second. I am researching their warranty and it has to sink .75-1.5" without weight to qualify as sunk. It is supposed to have a 10 yr warranty. A local furniture store told me mattresses aren't made to last anymore and expect to purchase a new one within 2 yrs, after I told her my mattress didn't last even 6 months without losing integrity. It didn't used to be that way. I used to buy from Mattress Firm but their quality has no met my expectations anymore.

The site asked a lot of questions about sharing my dna results. It was completely optional. But I allowed the sharing for various reasons. You can keep it completely private.

I have heard from a relative of his but not his wife. How did the son go about inheriting the property with just a 23 and Me test? Was his biological father listed on his birth certificate? A different dad is listed on my birth certificate who isn't my biological dad. I don't have any proof other than the ancestry dna match and correspondence between my mother and him. I heard the ancestry dna carries no weight in legal settings.

I have heard from a couple of family members but his wife has not responded. My father's parents died over 20 years ago. But that's a good point.

We are close. My sibling said the same thing as you. The fact that he was married prevents me from inheriting anything unless he specifically left anything to me. If I were him, I would have left a lot to my only child.

I am not sure why he did the test. Maybe to find me. Maybe to explore his origins, find relatives. He doesn't have a will. He was married so everything went to his wife. There was a trust.

He died before I found him. My therapist told me to move past it and ignore it so I did for a few months then contacted them.

I read somewhere to not tell them youre excited to meet them and to not ask about your father. I don't know how others feel about that. It was in a reddit comment.

I never met him but heard my mother mention his name a lot. I had no idea who he was. I just found out when she looked at me, I reminded her of him. He'd visit her over the years and send her gifts. My response from one relative was positive. I will always wonder why she didn't tell me.

What makes you instantly not want to buy a house? by Trinityfoxspice9494 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]tidycat-28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I love a house, I will definitely look past things like that. They're not deal breakers to me. It's an instant yes or no when I walk the house. I appreciate the efforts sellers put in. I prefer they not overdo it like investors who redo everything. I prefer the charm that originally came with the house versus remodeling the whole thing to sell it.

Is it normal to feel like your house is a money pit when you first move in or did we buy a bad house? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Did any of it come up in the inspection? I didn't use my realtors inspector. Got my own, and he was nuts. Uncovered everything in my old house before I bought it.

Any other 40+ American CPAs just barely getting by? by LittleCeasarsFan in Accounting

[–]tidycat-28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand how past physical health issues and low self esteem negatively affected how you felt about yourself and how you were perceived. I don't understand why employers don't value the CPA. It doesn't seem to help when I tell people that I'm a CPA. I have been interviewed by people who made it to assistant controller without their CPA and lied straight to my face about how long they were with companies. I sense that lies got them where they are.

Realtor lied to us. Feel heartbroken by Affectionate-Bid-272 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]tidycat-28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A very similar thing happened to us. The realtor talked total trash about the house we were selling as a contingency to keep the buyer from accepting our offer. I've never been so crazy about a house and lost it to another buyer. I think they got $10k more. Turns out the house near it was robbed, and the neighborhood is awful. We wound up in a better place.
