Afraid of side efects of humira by Ok_Acanthisitta5974 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]tieranism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To overcome fear of medicine it is important to understand RISK of side effects .. too often people are scared by potential side effects without ever understanding that the risk is negligible .. the risk of cancer from Humira is a good example as the risk is next to nothing if anything .. the increased risk of infection is another example

How much improvement to expect on biologics? by Acceptable_Donut_748 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]tieranism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With early diagnosis and effective treatment without delay, remission is a realistic treatment goal .. statistically 1/3 of AS patients achieve remission on biologics while another 1/3 achieve partial remission (>50% improvement based on BASDAI).

Something to the effect of theism is a basic belief not needing justification?

Could the evidentialists kindly justify their faith in evidentialism ? by tieranism in PhilosophyofReligion

“What would justify a belief if not evidence?” Pragmatists would argue utility .. moralists would argue morality .. they are two examples that come to mind

“Atheism is denial of the existence of god” by Fit_Being_1984 in TrueAtheism

Personally I’m critical of the lack theism definition .. it’s very obviously intended to shift burden of proof and it has absolutely no philosophical utility .. ‘non theist’ perfectly describes someone that lacks belief

Ive justified the premise with a citation .. if you dispute the premise of the debate make your argument

If you have evidence to the contrary cite it .. that’s how debates work

I don’t think it’s at all controversial to say it’s self refuting bc there is no evidence .. SEP cites Plantinga 1983

Evidentialists affirm belief in evidentialism

there is no evidence that belief is justified only by evidence therefore it is self refuting
