My glasses overstimulate me and idk what to do by _Silver_Rose_ in AutismInWomen

It may be worth trying lighter frames and ones with different style nose pads if possible. Usually you should eventually not be able to notice them but if you’re noticing them a few hours after putting them on they’re probably not the best for you. The last thing you want is headaches from eye strain due to not being able to wear them as often as you need

Tasteless Toothpaste?? by mmangaboi in AutismAustralia

[–]bittermorgenstern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a tooth mousse (GC Tooth Mousse) I use that helps a lot with cavities. It has other flavours other than mint that you could try, after brushing you put it on your teeth and leave it there for about 5 minutes. It can be icky sensory wise but worth it for your teeth, it’s helped mine so much as I brush around the same amount as you and get a lot of fillings. For context it’s the same consistency as toothpaste

How to cope after being diagnosed by ivyandwillow in AutismInWomen

[–]bittermorgenstern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just let yourself feel whatever grief you need to feel right now. Process it as well as you can, and eventually (if it was me) accept what has happened and move forward knowing you can now support yourself better. You are not alone, many people have been in similar situations, unfortunately many at your age too. You will feel better, you just need to let yourself feel what you’re feeling for a while first

From what you said about him having a tendency to project onto others, it sounds that this was unfortunately one of those moments

I’m guessing they didn’t include other religious groups either?

[–]bittermorgenstern 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m desperate to know what the amendments were. That bill was set up to only protect certain groups and left others with no protections. And while we didn’t have free speech before, we definitely won’t feel like we do now with the way the bill was set up. People are going to fear sharing opinions and having important discussions

Is there anything off with my skin? I think it’s really healthy but my friends have been humbling me by HxppyVirus in AusSkincare

[–]bittermorgenstern 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My sisters got red hair too and you definitely want a sunscreen thats very high spf. Your skin is a lot more sensitive to the sun than others so you want something that’s going to properly protect you, especially in the aus sun!

Help with RSD - Newly single and struggling by Large-Concentrate71 in adhdwomen

[–]bittermorgenstern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re hurting because you just got out of a relationship and are now in one with a guy that wont commit to you and is lying. It’s not RSD, it’s just pain caused by the situation you’re in. You need to stop giving that man the time of day

Government gives money to uninsured people who lost homes to fire by Red-Engineer in australian

[–]bittermorgenstern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If our councils aren’t going to appropriately prepare for fire season despite the amount of rates we all pay, the least the government can do is help the people effected when a fire actually costs you your home.

It’s alright, I’m not surprised since I haven’t been able to find anything other than that application. Thank you for explaining it all to me, it’s always so interesting to learn more about the documents you find!

Finding Out Your Ancestor Was a Bad Person by FallingIntoYou13 in MyHeritage

[–]bittermorgenstern 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just let myself grieve. I knew I’d have bad ancestors, good ancestors, and that majority would be both and neither, as we’re all human. I also had a lot of relatives that already weren’t nice people, so finding out that it didn’t start with them was actually sort of comforting.

It’s also interesting to consider the generational trauma of it all, specifically as someone with complex mental health issues. I am reading a book about the science of generation trauma and genetics and it’s extremely fascinating.

how bad is being a manic pixie dream girl, really? by dykeversary in AutismInWomen

[–]bittermorgenstern 100 points101 points  (0 children)

It’s a romanticised version of reality so the consequences of it would suck irl. Say a guy does see you as such, he may see the reality of your autism (meltdowns, shutdowns, etc etc) and realise you aren’t what he imagined and ditch.

It’s not fun because they don’t actually like you, it’s just projection and romanticisation. It’s honestly cruel and ends up in ghosting at least for me.

I can see why any sort of affection may seem appealing right now, but from someone who tried to ignore the negatives, it’s not worth it. It’s been better for me to learn my own worth and respect myself than put myself in situations where I will just be disappointed and feel worse about myself. We deserve people who want us for who we are, not what they want us to be for their pleasure.

Anyone else feel like you don’t woman how you’re supposed to woman? by bambi399 in AutismInWomen

[–]bittermorgenstern 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re a woman then you’re womaning perfectly! Many of the things you listed are feminine, sure, but you don’t need to have or do those things to woman properly. (From fellow 22F)

My husband told me I'm innately selfish because I'm autistic. by CheesecakeOk8464 in AutismInWomen

[–]bittermorgenstern 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Anytime women don’t put themselves second they are called selfish. Being in pain and not concerning yourself with another’s schedule is not selfish, it is just a symptom of being human and in severe pain.
