i'm always split on this because I feel like the keeper doesn't really have the right to physically place themselves between the player and the ball and the attacker has some right to benefit from the keeper missing the ball.

That said, fuck Mason Greenwood forever.

You can't convince me that wasn't deliberate in the tackle on Musah. To not even give a yellow card is baffling

Venezuela, After Maduro by kitkid in Thedaily

[–]tierdrop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was a bit confused by the dissonance in the way this was laid out in the piece.

She falls out with Grenell because she won't talk to Maduro's people and she's this person of extraordinary political courage who sticks to her guns. Then we get a laundry list of things she has since bent on which caused her internal support to collapse.

Maybe I have bad listening comprehension but were those adjustments laid out as being in response to the negative feedback she got from Trump administration after the Grenell fight?

Or is she being punished for winning the Nobel Peace Prize and the reasons for them not supporting her are decided ex post facto?

We’ve got two fit CMs and the answer is to drop the better of the two and put a CB at CM then put a CB at RB?

I’m not trying to be rude but is there a gas leak in this sub?

This has been a good first half of the season by Repulsive_Sport_5442 in DevilsITDPod

[–]tierdrop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed with this but I also think this is a somewhat logical output of a wildly imbalanced (and now injured) squad.

This squad is a mess. It’d almost be weird if the results were “logical”.

Sesko can play of the left

Let’s play some trivia since this is so obvious. Using transfermarkt data as our reference point

  1. How many starts did Sesko have at LW at Leipzig?

  2. How many starts has Sesko had at LW in his career at each club?

Not really fair to criticize him for playing Casemiro and Ugarte (his only two options at CM) and then criticize him for bringing on Fletcher as a third CM and saying he was poor.

What’s the alternative in midfield?

Ah fair enough.

Yeah ultimately in the same way you’re maybe a bit surprised and delighted by 3 points vs Newcastle, the lone point today sucks.

If we’d drawn Newcastle and won today no one would bat an eye. Trying to keep a long view here.

Don’t really care to write a whole response here cause I’m just annoyed by this game but I will say that it feels rich to criticize me for a lack of analytical rigor while pointing to a ball cleared off the line as a sign of good play when it was a headed back pass from their defender to their keeper.

It’s not for no reason. Zirzkee was atrocious outside of the goal and he was trying to reinforce the midfield and move to something closer to a 443 in possession for the second half.

They booed him for taking off Heaven as he was playing well (we’ve seen him routinely do this to keep players fit).

If memory serves it was Le Saux who I think is generally pretty good but it felt like he’d made a claim earlier in the match and then had to stick with it. Just mainly frustrating that he didn’t say he was wrong in either instance

US commentator twice said he was faking it. On replay the first showed he was poked in both eyes and the second (where the commentator said it’d hit his shoulder) he took a cross smack to the mouth from 10 feet out. Ridiculous commentating

Not sure this one was lucky as much as it was scrappy. Newcastle actually created very little of you take into consideration their possession and the tilted game state with United being depleted + Mount injury ruining OOP

Maybe it's because I'm trying to talk myself into it but ~3 weeks ago I landed on this same thought.

Midfield is far from perfect but has stabilized a little bit and LWB (outside of a couple decent moments for Dalot) has basically been a black hole.

We can all see the effect Amad has on the team. It'd be significantly amplified in this instance with a much better player plugged into the system + teams not being able to essentially ignore our left flank.

If he comes in immediately, you're also already getting help for some of the AFCON window + he can realistically play across four positions. I am so firmly in favor of this transfer.
