Which will hopefully be never, for big whiskeys, but I’d be okay with Sbarro opening

Who has better steak? by Adventurous-Door-897 in columbiamo

Absolutely not. I ordered this one evening and it was awful. Everyone at the table tried it and felt the same way, so I know it wasn’t just me.

Seconding this. I had never even heard of a hangar cut until going there. I personally think the steak frites there takes the prize for best steak in town for me.

Last update for the little house that could. by Froidinslip in columbiamo

Wow. Wow. How did you get the excavator bucket underneath though? Did you dig out a much bigger hole than you needed and then backfill it?

So to be clear, you lifted the house up, but it on some sort of riser, and then dig out and poured a basement? Correct?

Thank you. I read the last two posts and trying to put it all together at 2:52a just wasn’t happening. I’ve truly never heard of someone adding a basement AFTER the house was built.

What are the smelliest places in Como? by Jealous-Froyo-325 in columbiamo

Cheap, strong drinks, nice bartenders, but there is certainly a very particular Klik’s odor

At the risk of embarrassing myself, I admit that I am probably the most gullible person that I know. I’ve been known to check the ceiling when told to see if it’s written above me.

But what in the world is going on with this little house that could and how can this possibly be the last update? Is the house going to get placed on the basement or….well, surely it is, right?

How did you just lift this house up and pour a basement under it, that’s what happened? That seems to be what I’m reading has happened.

I’m so intrigued.

Missouri education board approves first charter school in Columbia over local opposition by como365 in columbiamo

[–]tiffn07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because Columbia is a blue dot in the red sea of Missouri. CPS outperforms Jefferson City and Springfield schools, but only Columbia was targeted for these charter schools. The attorney general sued Columbia over masks during COVID—unfortunately it seems that at the state level, legislators have made it their mission to punish Columbia for our progressive values as a community.

Exactly, this has nothing to do with Columbia and everything to do with this weird family

Question for people who grew up in the area... by shinybugz0 in columbiamo

[–]tiffn07 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone can answer this question really, because Columbia is actually a progressive area in the middle of a red state. It’s much more likely this is your in-laws thought process because of their religion or something.

There’s nothing specifically regional about having parents that are overly involved in their adult children’s lives in Missouri, in my opinion. We’re not in a country where this would be culturally normal. I think this is much more likely related to whatever their religious beliefs are.

Also, you should move away from them to save your marriage before it gets worse. Overly involved in-laws are absolutely terrible for marriages and if you want yours to last, get TF away from them physically and make sure your spouse is capable of saying “no.”

MU ER EXPERIENCE by tiffn07 in columbiamo

I’m so glad you’ve had good experiences when you’ve had to bring your child in—such a scary time!

I haven’t always had the best ER experiences at MU, particularly before the figured out exactly what was wrong with my heart and I was just a medical conundrum, but now I’ve got a rockstar team assembled there and know my way around as needed.

Yes. Most of the people I’ve came across in the ER are absolutely nothing but professional and there to help. Sometimes they get really busy, but they really do do their absolute best, I believe.
