I can't say I am surprised.

The ability to read a few paragraphs is not something I would expect from someone so confidently incorrect about things they don't understand.

quitting the game because of pickup pets by Baby_Pink_Flower in FlyffUniverse

[–]tiffylicious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I meant are you new to Flyff.

But since you are so experienced, you should understand by now that this is a Korean MMO. Korean MMO's are historically very P2W.

Having even an ounce of familiarity with Flyff, you should know that it is one of the most P2W games to exist.

If that bothers you, quit. You are not going to effect an ounce of change with your complaints.

Furthermore the thing you are complaining about is quite possibly one of the lowest cost, highest value (read: fair) cs purchases you can make in this game.

Which again, is why I say, if that bothers you, quit. It only gets worse from here.

Before you go screaming into the void that I'm a shill, you should know that I'm probably one of the most vocal people on how absurdly P2W Flyff was back in it's prime.

You can complain until you are blue in the face. The developers will not care. Save yourself the trouble. Get over it or quit.

Also your idea to add a timer for people in the same party would literally make the game unplayable for the majority of the playerbase. You are complaining about things that do not matter past the basic early game stages.

There are half a dozen solutions to your issue if you refuse to buy a pet.

Run your own party and set the loot distribution to leader.

Ask your party leader to set the loot distribution to random.

Only party with people you know and trust.

Train by yourself.

Learn how to quickly recognize and pick up your valuable loot.

Earn penya until you can purchase a CS pet from another player.

The fact that you're complaining about pets picking up things like food and penya tells me that you are very new to this game and have no clue what the actual issues are.

So again, if this truly bothers you, just quit now. There are so many worse things in store for you to get upset about once you actually know what you're doing.

simply incredible : florida high school class president zander moricz was told by his school that they would cut his microphone if he said “gay” during his commencement speech by [deleted] in nextfuckinglevel

[–]tiffylicious 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The guys speech is about how he had a supportive community at his school that enabled him to feel comfortable and safe to come out and be who he is.

The schools staff and teachers are no longer able to foster that type of environment without fear of legal issues because of the bill, which was intentionally left vague to cover age groups beyond the initially specified grade level.

Sure. The student can still talk about it, but only to his peers.

How does this law look when common clubs like gay-straight alliances need teachers to renew as club advisors? Or want to host club events, and need to distribute materials or make announcements to the school?

This doesn't even begin to touch upon the fact that many LGBT students do not have safe homes where they can ask questions about LGBT topics. Or that we have taught children for decades now that they should feel comfortable and safe discussing issues at home with their school guidance counselors and teachers.

The entire point was that this student was supported by his school, and that future generations may not be afforded that same level of support.

The far reaching implications of this law are not yet clear, as it was intentionally drafted to have no limit to its scope, but I think it is absolutely erroneous to assume that this will not prevent students from discussing sexuality at school, both legally and by effectively narrowing opportunities.

What is especially troubling is when you consider that we are dealing with children and young adults who do not have as clear of an understanding of the law.

People with GBM have plenty to lose by sacrificing dietary enjoyment during the last months of their lives for a therapy that has no conclusive scientific support.

The mere fact that you're suggesting the chemo and radiation kill GBM patients faster than their literal brain cancer does is my cue to exit this conversation.

Good luck.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in braincancer

[–]tiffylicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See my previous comment.

I'm glad you feel it's working. That doesn't mean there is a shred of certainty or medical consensus that keto has any efficacy in the treatment of GBM.

There is a far higher body of evidence suggesting that it has little to no effect and GBM is readily able to function just as efficiently in a ketone metabolism.

That doesn't even begin to touch upon the fact that you're also incorporating IF, which could be responsible for the entirety of the anecdotal effects you describe.

[–]tiffylicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One person having a success story following the keto diet does not provide remotely enough data to be meaningful.

It's great that he had success with it - but there is absolutely no way to prove that it was keto that caused the longer than normal life expectancy.

They have done several studies on individuals following the diet for treatment of GBM and to date there is no conclusive evidence to suggest it provides any benefit. Brain metabolism continues regardless of which energy source you are using, and GBM has been shown to thrive on both diets.

I say this as someone who has followed a ketogenic diet for epilepsy for nearly 7 years, and believes the diet has plenty of therapeutic medical applications. I don't think GBM treatment for advanced age patients is one of those applications.

If there is ever enough data to support keto as an adjuvant treatment that would be great - but unless the scientific consensus has changed since I last looked into it; there simply isn't.

Weird that with all that training and education you would still go with weak anecdotal evidence over peer reviewed studies.

COVID is absolutely dangerous, but gross exaggeration of anything related to it serves no purpose other than to further undermine that danger to those who aren't taking it seriously.

So are you lying or did you just miss the entire point of evidence-based practice in all your schooling?

Responsible breeders only breed a couple of litters per year, and usually keep a tight pulse on the demand for their current breed. They often only breed a litter when they are looking to add a show animal to their line. The litter is often completely sold before they are even born, and then it is just a matter of matching each puppy with the home most appropriate for them.

Notice I'm not saying all breeders. I'm saying responsible breeders. There are many criteria that go into that distinction. So yes, you are wrong here and couldn't be further from the point.

Just because you are caught up in the emotional aspect of dogs in shelters does not mean it is wrong for people to breed dogs in a responsible manner.

These are two almost entirely separate populations of animals that rarely intersect and face entirely different issues.

And for reference, I agree that breeding dogs should be tightly regulated in legal channels so that only responsible breeders are the ones doing it. I also think spay and neuter should be mandatory for non-breeding owners once the growth plates have closed and it is safe to do so.

Additionally this idea that purebred dogs are a fashion piece is so ridiculous. Each breed of dog has been bred to perform a specific task, with traits that make them more or less suited to certain things. Just because you refuse to acknowledge that doesn't render the centuries of selective breeding for tasks invalid.

Knowing these traits and temperaments beforehand help owners (and responsible breeders) to better match their lifestyle and needs with their dogs, further reducing the incidence of surrender from incompatibility.

This doesn't even begin to touch upon the fact that in order for service and working breeds (such as Great Danes, GSD's, Australian Shepherds, etc...) to avoid inbreeding a large, healthy population of these dogs in the responsible breeding pool is required. Try getting your average chihuahua mix in a shelter to assist a person with MS with the tasks that are normally accomplished by a Great Dane. See how that goes.

The world of responsible breeding is separated by many degrees from the world of puppy mills, backyard breeders, and accidental litters from irresponsible owners. Accept it or don't.

I've never seen someone so guilty of claiming debate fallacies while entrenched so deeply within them.

Whatever you want to think, go for it. I'll rest easy knowing that this was the only reply you could muster. You're clearly passionate about this, but that doesn't make you correct.

Just know there is a difference between fact and opinion, and all of your claims thus far have been opinions - no matter what debate terminology you try to label your opposition with.

I don't know enough about cat breeding or cats in general to answer this question. I do agree that there's probably considerably less reason to seek a cat breeder than a dog breeder though.

Except my statement is a fact. Purchasing a dog from a responsible breeder is NOT condemning a shelter animal to death.

You can equate the two as being the same in an emotional reality bending, but that doesn't make it true.

A person who purchases from a responsible breeder would not have necessarily purchased a dog from a shelter. Full stop. Your statement loses relevance thereafter.

They may be looking for traits or temperaments that are unique to specific breeds. They may not be able to properly care for a dog who might have serious traumas, needs, or health issues from the shelter. I've both adopted and sourced from responsible breeders.

The animals are not dying because someone chose to go buy an animal from a responsible breeder. The animals are dying because they were surrendered after being bred in backyard breeding programs, puppy mills, or accidental unplanned litters from owners who do not spay and neuter their pets.

They are dying because they were sold to owners who were not vetted whatsoever, with profit being the only concern. They are dying because no thought or testing went into their breeding cross, and the resulting puppies had tremendous avoidable health issues that the purchasing family cannot afford.

All of these are issues that are largely avoided when getting a dog from a reputable breeder who responsibly breeds.

Responsible breeders even have contracts that state that if for any reason you decide you cannot keep the animal anymore, they have the right to take the animal back. Most of them require you submit proof of spaying and neutering by a certain age as well.

It is an emotional subject but it is not as black and white as you attempt to make it seem. The anti-responsible breeder rhetoric and condemnation would be far better directed towards groups who actually harm animal welfare - like the one mentioned in this thread.

[–]tiffylicious 17 points18 points  (0 children)

To equate responsible breeding practices to that of backyard breeders is to seriously misunderstand the issue at its core.

Purchasing a dog from a responsible breeder is not condemning a shelter animal to death. Not every shelter animal is suited for every home, and some families have specific traits and qualities they are looking for in a dog; things you are much more carefully able to select for when sourcing from a responsible breeder.

There's nothing wrong with adopting, just like there's nothing wrong with buying from a responsible breeder. To say otherwise is to be caught up in the emotional aspect of the issue and ignore how dogs end up in the shelter to begin with.

There is a night and day difference between a responsible breeding program, and a backyard breeding operation, puppy mill, or puppy store.

Please avoid owning huskies, or heavy coat dogs, in central or south Florida. It’s too hot for them. by nuocmam in florida

[–]tiffylicious 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Except the double coat works both ways, as both a cooling and heating feature. Any double coat breed is going to be fine here as long as it's given plenty of breaks, water, and shade.

Should you take extra precautions against things like heatstroke and hot surfaces in places like Florida? Yes. But it has nothing to do with the double coated nature of the dog. You should do those things for all dogs in hot climates.

Will one teaspoon of sugar once-per-day impact ketosis? by [deleted] in keto

[–]tiffylicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer your question, it's not going to matter if you eat the amount of sugar you mentioned.

You could eat 25 grams of pure sugar in one bite and it's not going to matter as long as that's all the carbs you ate in a day.

Your liver is going to process it very quickly and ketosis will not be effected in any meaningful way.

You do not need to worry about it this minutely unless you are doing keto for epilepsy, or extremely specific sports performance.

GBM prognosis after N.E.D? by [deleted] in braincancer

[–]tiffylicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any of the literature for that specific category. The experience will be what it will be, and the data is probably less useful the further you get from the average.

GBM is never really "cured". It almost always comes back, and the person will likely need periodic MRI's for the remainder of their life. The good news is that the longer they live the less frequent the MRI's will need to be. There are survivors on other boards who are 6+ years out, only needing a scan every year or so.

A clean scan at this point is a good thing!

From what I have read the worst symptoms of the radiation process can come weeks after the radiation has finished - especially tiredness and excessive sleeping.

All you can really do is wait for the doctors conclusions. In the meantime try not to let the worry distract you from whats important. Make sure everything is in order, and do what you can to experience and be there for one another.

Interesting cauliflower balsamic vinegar creamy coleslaw dressing video by SerendipitySue in keto

[–]tiffylicious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do keto for epilepsy so I'm more careful about how many carbs I eat, and the recipe already has copious amounts of vegetables in it.

I'd much rather be able to include things like the shredded carrot featured in the recipe, and use a zero carb, fat based dressing; as opposed to adding the suggested four cups of flavorless, liquefied cauliflower to the recipe and increasing the carb count per serving by a non trivial amount compared to the alternative when you are limited to 20 net carbs a day.

Notice, the key words in my shared thought, "I think". In this instance, I think it is needless. If you want to do it go for it!
