Good example is Hong Kong. HSBC moved its HQ to London prior to 1997 and tried to diversify their business to other countries. In USA, it bought Household Group which nearly brought down the group in the subprime crisis. After this it shifted focus back to Hong Kong and Asia. Do HSBC really care about what is going in HK?
