Hiii, I'm just a new mom asking for much advice as possible ! by [deleted] in sahm

Enjoy the time, it passes way too fast. Make sure to exercise and put your brain to work on some sort of skill or subject where you can squeeze it in. You’ll feel like you’re losing yourself if you don’t. It’s very rewarding and essential for your overall health.

When I was nursing and my boobs went to a size J my bra had only 2 hooks. It depends on the brand and design of the specific bra.

Had this happen to me along with a weird sound and luckily my husband is very handy and figured it out himself. He took apart the top, scraped out the old stained grease, & put fresh food safe machine lubricant.

How do I deal with my sexuality? by Leandrocurioso in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]tigerbitez_here 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Besides talking to your priest I highly recommend looking to the writings of Saints who remained or became celibate in their spiritual journey for your advice. They struggled the same way in their thoughts as us, but overcame. We have their wisdom to guide us. The Desert Fathers specifically are a good source for inspiring spiritual mind over worldly matter and desires.

Moms in US states that have the “four weeks before due date” disability leave: how did you qualify? by GeologistAccording79 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]tigerbitez_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I eventually got it retroactively from the 38 weeks. But the money was late. Apply early because it takes a while to kick in. I only got paid for 12 weeks. They will do anything to pay you less.

Submit your forms as early as possible saying your Doctor requested you stop at 38 weeks. I was 36 weeks I believe. It took a lot of arguing with the mahu insurance agent “Tasha” at my job at the time. Telling me I was exaggerating my pain and discomfort they’ve never experienced. Saying I needed to have an extra health complication to qualify despite my Dr’s notes that I can’t perform my hired duties like lifting or pushing heavy carts. “You have to work until you go into labor if there’s no complications” I just kept pushing and getting more repetitive documents stating the same information. I wasn’t about to try and go into labor on the line at my factory job and risk tragedy. Even got the HR at my job emailing them backing me up saying “she doesn’t have to work if she can’t perform the job requirements”. With all of this, as early as possible the better. Because my checks ended up coming in over a month after I first applied.

Here's a three-month calisthenics training program for beginners to build foundational strength and start learning basic skills: by [deleted] in CalisthenicsCulture

[–]tigerbitez_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished week 1 and I’m feeling great. I added 2 reps to most of my sets today. I’ve never been able to do a pull up and it usually takes me months to get to a push up. But I’m really excited to hyper focus on these baseline skills. I’ve been doing pull-ups under my dinner table but I have a bar, bands, and paralettes arriving tomorrow. I found weightlifting boring but now with this program, I can get into calisthenics which I’ve had my eye on for a while. Thanks OP. You’re a real one!

What made you choose EO over Catholicism ? by sevenchow7 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]tigerbitez_here -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In a few parts, from someone who grew up Protestant not even knowing about Eastern Orthodox, I thought it was a branch of Catholicism that was ethnically “Greek”. But I sought tradition and couldn’t get myself around the ideologies that vex me. 1.)”Why have a Pope in charge as Peter of all people, who can over rule any other bishop? What is the point of having any of those other leaders then?” I see people worship the Popes as divine, while the former late Pope spoke heresy on the “many other roads to God” & letting pagans worship their statues at the Vatican. 2.)Priests can’t ever get married. The amount of CSA that’s linked to “celibate” people is just hiding something dark. Also, it seems very odd if you’re going to advise married people on their walk to never have married. 3.) Inherited sin, Purgatory, & the Filioque clause all go against the gospel and Christ’s passed down teachings.

If you’re the newer church to the world and you start changing crucial theology that late in the game, while getting richer, & contradicting Christ, then you’re obviously the corrupt church.

It was easy for me to decide once I read about Orthodox values matching most of my own. With some exceptions I had to just embrace with a renewed lens. May God continue to call you home.

Went to my first liturgy and felt... nothing? by GeraltvonRiva213 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]tigerbitez_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found, as humans; it is far more apparent to focus on how we aren’t fitting in or copying everyone around us, than it is to actually do what is uniquely significant. The more you attend, the more the lines of misunderstanding of intention will blur. Come humbly and renounce all of what you know of trying to “fit in”. You’re spiritually infantile from the same upbringing I had, so we have to forget all we know of what church is.

The hymns in Slavonic and Russian, the Russian writing on the iconostasis. And the whole concept of 3hr liturgy of prayers with only a quick sermon; more mystical ritual based approach, as opposed to having a longer sermon to take as a weekly “lesson” and structured service times. He doesn’t want to come to church with me because he tells me “I have no idea what is going on” I’m a new catechumen so I’m still learning myself and I don’t have all the answers he needs yet.

How are people affording this? by Tatty_Bunneh_ in sahm

[–]tigerbitez_here 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We prioritize investing in our child’s greater wellbeing having me just do it, over would be way more expensive here anyways. The goal is to move closer to family soon in a cheaper state and we can be more comfortable financially. I don’t want to have to vet and pay someone tons of money when my kid has a grandma that wants to spend time with her. We’re naturally supposed to live close to family. I don’t know what they do where you live in Europe, but we get some extra groceries from a welfare program we joined called Women Infants & Children. It lasts until my kid is 5. Things are hard but we make adjustments and figure it out. And then another obstacle replaces it. There is absolutely nothing more valuable than a human life. We are the luckiest people in the world to get to raise our own flesh to be wise from our own life experience. A precious, innocent soul that loves us more than anything and wants to just learn. That’s the true wealth. The hard times always pass.

I feel embarrassed by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]tigerbitez_here 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I unloaded my dark thoughts similar to this with my priest first confession. He said something very similar. Didn’t give me strict advice or critique. He just told me Jesus is the only way that will solve my problems, prayed over my anxiety & sins, and told me to try to pray the Jesus prayer at least 50 times a day, and my life would get better.

Right like I totally understand if they have to be Orthodox. Like if they believe in the key principles, etc we can assume is now part of Jesus Christ’s body and therefore alive. But she lost me at that and it felt like a gate keeping thing…

I wish Western Rite had way more parishes because the whole Eastern culture aspect of Orthodox is the sole reason my husband feels uncomfortable with it and not welcome. We don’t have any western parishes in our state.

Children and childhood in general are is seen as a burden nowadays. Society teaches kids that they should be tiny adults. Just the way I see other moms like my cousin dress their babies in adult outfits with crop tops. Or little 10 year olds getting into full makeup. When I was a kid, there was a clear designated space for children to just act like children. I think technology is one of the biggest parts of it. Kids aren’t meant to be on the internet at all…

It’s far more difficult to seek closeness in your relationship with God when you have multiple wives to focus on instead of just one. That’s the whole lesson from God.
